Rating: Summary: The world is ending... Review: and we all get a picture of what it could look like. Despite what others (reviewers on this page) think, this is a fantastic book. Once you begin this book (and those that follow) you'll never be able to put them down. Of course, we don't know how the world will end (and it will), but this is most certainly one possible way. Enjoy your read and open your eyes to the truth that Jesus is coming back for His own!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put It Down Review: There are people who have chosen to give this book the "raspberry" because of personal issues, such as what Christianity really is. I just want potential readers to understand that this book is FICTION. Some readers have failed to recognize that. It is truly an entertaining book. I couldn't put it down! It was also very spiritually uplifting and I highly recommend it to all FICTION readers.
Rating: Summary: This is DEFINITELY Christian Propoganda! Review: Not an enjoyable read for those that are so philosophically confused that they have allowed themselves to be consumed trying to answer that which is not definable with some so called theory. Whatever your beleif may be this story is an excellent read. Of course it is fiction; it is speaking of something that has yet to happen using characters that do not exist. That is the beauty of the novel. It takes what us non-bible carrying Christians have viewed as fiction all of our lives, and puts it in a present day context. So that one is able to place their own life perspective in God's Plan for us. This story has took what pastors have been afraid to preach about or have preaached on very poorly for centuries, and put it into a story in which even a non-theologian can relate to. You cannot reach everyone through the Bible; sometimes you must resort to other methods. Sure Jenkins and LaHaye have and will make a lot of money from this series, but I can think of a lot of worse ideas that have mada a lot more money.
Rating: Summary: Simply, one of the best books I've ever read. Review: Not being a fan of fiction, I was surprised to find this such a great read. I stayed up until 3 in the morning and had to make myself put the book down to get some sleep. It was not scary, but it was certainly deep and made me thing. Just think, guys...this could come true any day. Read the BIBLE. There is nothing left before the rapture, so would you want to be left behind?
Rating: Summary: Mmmm... rapture. Review: WWJD? Probably laugh at this book. With some of the most jejune writing this side of Dean Koontz, _Left Behind_ twitches and seizes its way through page after page of a great idea gone horribly wrong. Now, understand that I picked up this book because I was in love with the notion of millions of people disappearing at once and the impact that would have; sadly, this book spends precious little time discussing the actual rapture, and instead jumps right up to the lectern. I'm still trying to figure out how and why people went right back to work at their old jobs within a day or two of the big event. I know I'd be inclined to take a few personal days... But more troubling than its lack of real focus on author-created plot, is the disgusting sexism (cf. Hattie Durham) and flaccid character development. Not a single person in this book is worth caring about, and even worse, they're all pretty detestable-- even the ones we're supposed to like. Don't waste time reading this book if you're an intelligent person looking for theological answers or inspiration; you'd get more from an Amy Grant album. Do read this book if you just emerged from the primordial ooze, or have recently become hooked on phonics.
Rating: Summary: A Must for Believers and Non Review: This book has ultimately changed my life forever. I thought I was a Christian before and had it right until I read this book. The book may be fiction, but it borders reality real well. I got Re-Baptized and strengthen my relationship with the Lord. If you aren't changed by just the first chapter, then you will by the end. I now read the Bible daily. The book was outstanding from start to finish. Now, on to the rest of the series. The references to verses in the Bible is outatanding.
Rating: Summary: Christianity is not the only religion Review: I was intrigued with the concept and somewhat enjoyed the narrative, but after finishing it, I felt as if I had just been preached to by a propagandist. I am catholic and I suggest you DO NOT read this book. If races were substituted for the religions in this book, it would be the most racist book I ever read. Jews and Muslims are the enemies to salvation. Buddhists are somewhat spared because they believe that there once was a prophet named Jesus. Russia as the evil empire? Please. Even good, god-loving people do not experience the rapture because they have not been "born-again." This is a dangerous cult in the making and the weak and the shallow will flock to it.
Rating: Summary: Garbage Review: Fluff. Not bad if you want to kill some time, but to take this FICTION as truth telling the end of the world is to ignore billions of years of evidence to the contrary- the world isn't about to end, folks. Jesus' point was to be good to one another, not to run about willy-nilly, feeling superior that you're going to be taken in the Rapture!
Rating: Summary: AN EXCELLENT WAY TO BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND NEW FOUND RELIGION. Review: THE FIRST OF THE LEFT BEHIND SERIES WAS AN EXCELLENT BOOK. THIS BOOK LEFT ME NOT WANTING TO WAIT FOR THE CONTINUING STORY IN THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES. THE ENTIRE SERIES IS A MUST FOR CHRISTIANS AND NON CHRISTIANS ALIKE. IT WILL START YOU ON A QUEST FOR TRUTH AND KNOWLEDGE. MR.LAHAYE AND MR JENKINS HAVE TRUELY OUT DONE THEMSELVES WITH THIS GREAT AND INSPIRING SERIES. CHILDREN IN SUNDAY SCHOOL LOVE THE SERIES DIRECTED TOWARD THEIR AGE GROUPS. IT IS ASTOUNDING HOW INFORMATIVE THESE BOOKS TRULY ARE. EVERYONE SHOUL READ THESE BOOKS.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book & interesting reading Review: Great book (series) that brings the Book Of Revelation closer to comprehension in everyday terms.
