Summary: Still funny after the hundredth reading
Review: "Duck is Dirty" is the first book with a real plot that our twelve-month-old daughter fell in love with. Two months later, she still wants to hear this book ten times a day. The duck's expressions are hilarious, and this story is really fun to read aloud. I agree with another reviewer that this should be one of the classic books for babies and toddlers. Unfortunately, I couldn't even find it in our local bookstore and would never have discovered it had I not come across a reference to "Duck is Dirty" on one of the Amazon.com lists.

Summary: The title is the funniest part.
Review: I bought this book for my 1-year-old based on the funny title. Trust me, that was the only funny part of the book. The rest is too simplistic to even capture a child before it is over. She's 18 months old now and still doesn't want to read this book. And she loves books!

Summary: great first book
Review: I've surrounded my son with books since the day he was born but he didn't take much interest. This book finally got his attention. He would pull out ALL the books in his bookshelf until he found 'Duck is Dirty' and wanted it read to him over and over. Eventually, he wanted to read the other 3 books and then blossomed from there. My nephew who was three months older wasn't interested in books either. During a Christmas visit, he ALSO got hooked on 'Duck is Dirty' along with the other Kitamura books. Since then, he loves reading. I highly recommend these books to any new parent.

Summary: Funny!
Review: My 17 month son giggles everytime we read this story. He definitely gets it. It has fast become a favorite.

Summary: My 17-month-old son laughed when we read this!
Review: My son has just started to bring books to me so that I will read to him, and this is his new favorite. The first time we read it, and every time thereafter, he laughs at all the "uh-oh"s. He also "reads" it by himself, saying "Uh-oh!" GREAT book for babies!

Summary: She will actually sit through this book
Review: Our daughter loves to look at books but she will rarely sit through a whole story. We got this book when she was 14 months old, and at 21 months, she still loves it. The pictures are bright and funny and there are few words on each page. The words that are there are words that she says all the time "Uh-oh", "dirty", "duck", etc. and the story is very easy to understand. I find her in her room all the time "reading" the book because she remembers what words go with what picture.

If she is in a mood to sit down for a few minutes, it is also easy to make the story longer by bringing in other aspects of the pictures or just making up other things about the duck. We now have the whole set, and they are our daughter's favorites - evidenced by the fact that they are the only books she does not chew on because she is too busy reading them!

Summary: Great Reading for the Very Young
Review: The words in this book are very simple and sweet. My 1 year old was able to memorize the book. Now she has advanced to telling me what is happening in the pictures. I think this book is the best of the series!

Summary: Just Plain Cute!
Review: This book is really cute! I have an almost-two year old son who has never sat still for a book since the day he learned to crawl at 6 months old. I was really getting worried that he'd NEVER like books, but I ordered this book because he likes ducks and it was cheap. Guess what--from the moment he saw the cover, he loved this book! He actually sits still to have it read to him two or three times in a row! The pictures are adorable and the simple text allows for a lot of spontaneous discussion. There aren't many pages, so it's easy for him to turn to whichever page he wants to see. I just can't believe how instantly he took to it after a year and a half of no interest in books whatsoever.
