Rating: Summary: Exciting second adventure in the series. Review: Thirteen-year-old Abby Kendall and her family have been living with her Uncle Samuel on his ranch in Hawaii for three months now, but things there are not how her parents expected. During her uncle's long illness, the ranch was not productive, and neither he nor her parents have much money. Now a mean neighbor is threatening to buy the ranch, and Abby's parents and uncle don't have enough money to stop him. So Abby decides to use the pirate map she found on her last adventure, and find the treasure to solve her family's problems. She convinces her best friend Luke to come along, and soon the two friends are caught in another dangerous adventure as they sail to Lanai, a small Hawaiian Island that is supposed to be deserted and is rumored to be haunted.
Readers who enjoyed the first book in the South Seas Adventures series are sure to enjoy this book, which was another fun, exciting adventure featuring Abby and Luke. I really like the unique setting of this series, and I look forward to reading the rest of the books.
Rating: Summary: Abby Quest for Treasure (South Seas Adventure 2) Review: We picked up this book at a school book fair. This is actually the second book in a series about a girl in the mid 1800's and the struggles her family goes through. Money is scarce and she gets the idea that searching for treasure will help her family. So she decides to use the map she copied from pirates in the first book. This book is published through Tyndale Kids, which is a Christian company, so I knew the content would be safe. After one night of reading my daugher immediately asked if she could get more Abby books. She also wanted to share the book with me and has started reading it to me. She also wanted me to explain what ribbon candy was.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: When Abby's mean neighbor Rassmassen threatens to take over the family ranch Abby realizes that it's up to her and Luke to save it. Soon they are on an adventure to find hidden treasure, and enough money for Abby's family to save the ranch, and be wealthy. This is an excellent historical adventure great for all ages.
