Rating: Summary: Wurst Catherine Clark Novel? Review: A sequel to "Truth or Dairy," "Wurst Case Scenario" is engaging, but a little bit depressing. Terribly unrealistic (something catastrophic just HAS to happen on every page?) and full of things people just shouldn't do (they wonder why they end up doing stupid things after having several beers... hmmm). A page-turner, and definitely a want-to-read after Clark's previous novel. I wouldn't buy it, which is why I borrowed it from the library, and I'm glad I did.
Rating: Summary: don't even bother Review: Even after hearing bad reviews beforehand, I thought I would give it a shot since I loved the first book. But, the truth is, this book is boring, the characters are boring and the entire time all Cortney does is complain. Don't waste your time, I could hardly even finish this, and I usually love all books.....poorly done :(
Rating: Summary: More realistic than you think Review: I loved Truth or Dairy and I was pretty worried when I read some of the reviews on here. But I have to say that it was a great, funny read and reminded me of what college was like in a way no other book has (yes, I am a grown-up--sort of). The main character is sometimes annoying, but she actually realizes that! There aren't whole lot of books about college (believe me, its not the melodramatic experience you see on Felicity for most of us) and this one captures much (but not all) of the essence of those first few months. I have to admit it's probably a 4, but I wanted to counterbalance some of the negative reviews.
Rating: Summary: A good, fun book!! Review: I read the prequel to this book, Truth or Dairy, and loved it, so I picked up this book. It's just as good. Courtney goes off to college in Wisconsion, leaving her boyfriend, Grant, a day's drive away. At times this book was hilarious, and at others it's sad. Court's first real friend is a girl named Thyme. Thyme is pretty different: she doesn't shave and she constantly has an arguement, but Courtney befriends her. Courtney works at a ridiculous place called "Bagle Finagle", where she makes more friends; sweet Ben and hilarious Mark/Marc/Marque/Marcus (he keeps changing his name tag). The end is a little disappointing, but was worth reading all the way. While I liked this book, I still thought Truth or Dairy was better. Worth reading, though.
Rating: Summary: Awesome book! Review: I really liked this book. It was nice, funny, and still serious. I did not read the first book in this series but I hope to. I really hope there is a third book though so I can see what happens to Courtney! I loved this book! It was awesome! Read it if you like reallity fiction!
Rating: Summary: Wurst Case Scenario makes a good story Review: I've read the other reviews posted and the majority of the reviewers seem to think that the first book in the series, "Truth or Dairy" was better than "Wurst Case." Unfortunately, this is true. Fortunately, this does not mean that "Wurst Case" was as horrible as some people make it sound. It just means that "Truth or Dairy" was outstanding. In fact, "Wurst Case" was a very enjoyable, funny book. Courtney's often sarcastic humor is something that anyone can relate to and laugh at. The book is down-to-earth and Catherine Clark has the ability to make the reader feel as if she is Courtney's new best friend. This novel takes place on a college campus in rural Wisconsin, the land of cheese and meats. Good news for some, it is absolutely unthinkable for Courney, a strict vegan used to working in cute cafés in her hometown in Colorado. What's worse is that by going to Cornwall Falls for College, Courtney is separated from her boyfriend, Grant, and forced to room with a crazy, brainiac, Wisconsin native, Mary Jo. However, in spite of all the downsides of her college life, Courtney is able to find the sunny part and use her charm and sarcastic wit to pull the story together and in to something enjoyable. Bottom line is that this was a great, absolutely hilarious book that I definitely reccommend to Princess Diary fans in love with Mia's humor... it's something Courtney and her share.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed..... Review: It was a good book. Some laughs of course. But the book leaves you feeling empty at the end with Courtney and Grant breaking up. I hope there's another book where Grant and Courtney get back together. THE FIRST ONE WAS SOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER, MAKE SURE TO BUY AND READ TRUTH OR DAIRY!!!!!
Rating: Summary: The prequel is better... Review: Once again we meet Courtney Von Dragen Smith, who's all grown up and entering college...in Wisconsin?! Courtney is a likable character, and is shows in this diary of her first semester. However, I read Truth or Dairy (the prequel) earlier this year, and even I couldn't remember who some of the characters were she constantly mentions. It would have been nice if the author had woven in a quick explanation of who Jane and Beth were just to refresh our memories. I felt like this book could have been MUCH better, but instead, the characters are so thinly drawn that you never care much about them.
Rating: Summary: Just As Great As The First! Review: The book starts out at Cornwall Falls College; a place where self-centered Courtney doesn't even want to be. She continues to struggle to fit in throughout the book...in a town where they are not exactly welcoming to the vegetarian community. The main idea of the book is that Courtney has to figure out a way to make new friends, get some money, and keep her relationship with Grant (The Superior Boyfriend) even though they are far away from each other. Like the book before, it has lots of laugh-out-loud jokes, and the characters are always interesting. This is definitely worth reading; but it would be helpful to read "Truth Or Dairy" before this one.
Rating: Summary: What's the Wurst that can happen?? Review: Wurst Case Scenario is the sequel to Truth or Dairy. Originally, Truth or Dairy is about Courtney's hard times in her senior year in highschool, break-ups, friendships, family, and working. The story ends as Courtney Von Dragen Smith is hooking up with her ex boyfriend's best friend, Grant. Wurst Case Scenario starts off on Courtney's first day of college. The struggles of separating from friends and family, especially, her boyfriend Grant. If that's not bad enough, Courtney is stuck with the geekiest girl on campus as her roommante. Courtney's job she applied for isn't as she expected and she ends up working at Bagle Finagle, a bagel lover's heaven. Uninspected things begin to happen as Courtney struggles to join groups in college, and to find her place in the dairy town. If you read Truth or Dairy, this book is a must read for you. If you haven't read either, you should do so...The Courtney series is really hilarious and she'll remind you of Mia from Princess Diaries. Although this book isn't as good as the first, it still is a worthy read. Go out and read it today! It's going to be one of your favorites! Christine Ebrahim
