Review: Mwenye Hadithi writes wonderful animal fables. Hippo is amongst his sweetest. I wish the book was still in hardcover! Makes an excellent read-aloud, and the watercolor illustrations are a great complement.

Review: This book, with its vivid and whimsical watercolors and delightful tone, is a fun and rewarding read-aloud book to share with any child. Hippo's gentle and happy personality captures small children's attention, while the all-powerful Ngai -- "god of Everything and Everywhere -- gives them a delicious shiver up their spine. I have read this book aloud for children uncountable times and have yet to see it fail to please. It should be back in print! So, if you can get your hands on a copy, enjoy.
