Summary: HAIRSTERICALLY FUNNY
Review: A simply fabulously funny book about waking up with the worse bad-hair day ever.
Who hasn't tried to poke down those stubborn wayward strands of hair with the help of everything from water to mousse and gel? Kids not only love the subject, but can't resist joining in the refrain of b-b-boings. A great gift for anyone who struggles with chronic
or even acute 'bedhead'.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is one time I enjoy having bedhead....
Review: Ever have a bad hair day? Of course you have....but not as bad as Oliver's.......

It's class picture day and oliver wakes uo to find he has...BEDHEAD. His hair is a big gooey, clumpy frumpy mess....and no matter what he tries...mousse, spritz, gel, water, pins....it's still outta control! You'll laugh as he and his family try to tame his wild 'do. The dialogue is as witty and as wild as Oliver's hair and the illustrations are just as giddy and free. A great book to share with children and adults alike. Very silly good fun.

Summary: There IS such a thing as a "GOOD" bad hair day!
Review: My son turned me on to this book thanks to his pre-school class. His class begs for it to be read...over and over and over. The quirky illustrations and the riotously funny text make for a surefire winner. My son squeals with delight while we read it. A great lively book to share with a child.

Summary: HAIRSTERICALLY FUNNY
Review: Readers of my other reviews will know that my kids can be the toughest critics there are. This book was a slight exception - they loved it from cover to cover. On the other hand, I wasn't quite so easily moved.

Don't get me wrong - it's a great idea for a kid's book, and easily something we can all relate to: Oliver wakes up to find his hair is less than perfect. Every attempt by him and his family to treat the hair makes life (and Oliver's hair) more and more miserable. Finally, Oliver realizes all he's got to do is don a baseball cap (who HASN'T done this among us, men?), and trots off to school.

Once Oliver gets to school, one of his classmates takes glee in pointing out that today is picture day, and that Oliver will have to take the hat off. When it's time for posing with the entire class, the hat comes off, and the hair ... well, I'll not ruin the ending for those of you who have yet to pick up the book.

Ok, so why didn't I like it? For one thing, the book is busy. The words themselves are busy, and the artwork, while exceptional, contains just a hair too many distractions for the ordinary adult reader. Again, the kids loved it, and after all, who's the book going to be for?

Harmless fun that engaged the target audience for (groan) at least a dozen readings; I'll begrudgingly allow four stars.
