Summary: A complete compilation of all the half-blood prince info
Review: This book was a comprehensive compilation of all the half-blood prince information to date. That being said, if you are a big enough fanatic about the Harry Potter series to read a book about a book that doesn't even have a release date yet, then you probably know most of the information and miscellany in this book already.
However, there are some notable exceptions. The most notable is compelling evidence as to the identity of the half-blood prince. I had never encountered this information in all the half-blood prince perusing I had done previous, but it is contained within this book with authentic and convincing evidence. Really, it was one of those things I wish I could unread. So be aware that the spoiler warning at the beginning of this book is not in jest.
It is a complete compilation but obviously only for the Harry Potter obsessed since, as I mentioned, it is a book about a book that doesn't even have a release date. If you just can't get enough then I recommend this book. But if you're a fan but still a mentally stable fan...well, then you're probably not even reading this review, so nevermind.

Summary: A great read for any Harry Potter fan
Review: "Half-Blood Prince" Update is truely a great read for any Harry Potter fan. Anyone who hasn't been up on the latest HBP information can find it all in this book, and with their "Print On-Demand" technology, the book is updated continuously (which is a great plus as more and more information comes out). My only complaint is that the book is not completely organized, and it seems most information was just thrown around throughout the book...although the author does try to organize it into 5 major groups.

Again, it was a great read with lots of analysis and lots of information you won't find on many fansites or most places online. I'd recommend this book to any HP fan looking forward to HBP!

Summary: Good if you do not follow JKR's website...
Review: If you dont have time to follow the fan sites or to regularly visit JKR's site, this is a good read while waiting for book six. The info on the identity of the Half Blood Prince is well presented, compelling and offered a good spoiler if you like them. Also provides great tips on finding easter eggs on the websites and DVDs.

However, if you even sporadically catch up on the JKR interviews and website news/rumors, you can put much of this info together. Ultimately I thought it had two or three really important and new ideas to share, the rest was a bit thin for the $. I think this because it is far less speculative than some of the other HP guides and holds closely to only those things that JKR has posted or said in interviews. This could be its strength actually - if you dont want to hear everyone else's theories of what might happen in book six and seven.

Like others have said, the author does promise to make updates (that's good) and you can print it for more comfortable reading (also good).

Summary: Unofficial Half-Blood Prince(tm) Update
Review: This book is a very good compilation of facts, rumors, and other information associated with Harry Potter Book Six. If you have not been following all the various fan websites, J.K. Rowling's official site, and other news sites, this book is a must read if you want to catch up on all the latest news about Harry Potter. It compiles information found all over the internet and news into an easy to read format that tells you what will be in Book Six, what may be in Book Six and Seven, what will be in either Book Six or Book Seven, and discusses various theories about the content of Books Six and Seven. And for those of us who can't wait until the next Harry Potter book, it suggests things to do while waiting. All in all, this book is a must read for Harry Potter fans.

Summary: Great-fun with Half-Blood Prince!
Review: This book is great for all fans of the Harry Potter series that don't have the time or inclination to search online and/or participate in online chats etcetera to get all the up-to-date facts on the next installment in the Harry Potter series.

As someone who is a very active Harry Potter researcher, I didn't find a tremendous amount of NEW information in this update, but what is here I really enjoyed reading! The book it is very well laid out and quite comprehensive. The author did an excellent job of summarizing all the information about Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in an organized way that was easy to follow. It is written for all those fans of the series who want to know what has been said and confirmed so far, but who don't want to weed through all the crazy speculations and rumors online to do so.

The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that I would liked to have seen even more details and information discussed - you can never get enough of a good thing. Again, I would recommend this book/update to most all the fans of the Harry Potter series; it will help you pass the time until the book is actually launched.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Extremely comprehensive
Review: This was a great read. The author was extremely comprehensive in compiling, analyzing, and sorting all the information and speculation that currently exists about Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Recommended for Potter-fans, general readers, and diehard theorists alike.
