Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Book for Teachers! Review: This story is about a young boy named Ned. When Ned was oneyear old, his parents discovered that he had a special talent. Everytime Ned said a word that named a thing, the "thing" appeared over his head. When he said the word "gorilla", a gorilla would appear. This became a problem when Ned started to school. Classmates would yell, "WE CAN SEE WHAT YOU SAY!" The teacher became upset because very little work was being done in the classroom. In hopes of finding a solution to this problem, Ned was sent to the school nurse, band teacher, French teacher, and to the principal . As a last resort, the principal gave Ned a choice. He could stand in the hall or say nothing at all. It seemed as though no one understood Ned, until the art teacher came on her usual day. She knew why those things had shown over Ned's head. Do you? A Note to Teachers: This book can be used to incorporate community within your classroom. This book reminds us that every child is different and has special talents. In order to meet the needs of every child, we must remember to include the arts in our teaching.
