Angeli Perrow
Down East Book

Are you between the ages of 4-8? If you are Lighthouse Dog to the Rescue is definitely for you! This book is about a dog who lives in Maine at the Owl Head Lighthouse during the 1930s. The dog's name is Spot. It is a fictional story based on a true one. Spot can hear the engine of the mail man's boat when he comes towards the rocks. One cold day when there was a blizzard so bad that no one could see the light through the heavy snow the mail man got lost. The bell was frozen so nobody couldn't ring it. Spot was there but could he save the mail man from crashing?

Spot is the main character and is a dog. Spot lives with his two owners Pauline and Millie, the keeper's daughters. Pauline is the oldest out of the two daughters. She is 8 yrs. old while Millie is only 4 or 5. Their father is the keeper of the lighthouse. They both get home schooled by their mother. Spot loves playing outside with the girls, waiting for the mail man.

Angeli Perrow is my Aunt. She also is one of my favorite authors. The way she details the stories and describes what was happening was notable. I recommend this book to all children. It's a well-thought out book and fun to read, it is also a great bed time story because it's not scary. Children will love this book and parents will too because it teaches bravery, courage, and heroism.
