Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not what I expected
Review: Although this book is not what I expected - it might be exactly what you are looking for.

It is a very simple book illustrated with photographs of children of different cultures and some jail pictures. It explains what jail is and how one has to do bad things to get there. It also touches on feelings and changes in the family. Every topic is touched all too briefly.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Helpful explanations about a complex situation
Review: This book offers well organized, truthful (not sugar coated), and easy to understand explanations about the various aspects of having a parent in jail. The book even mentions how sometimes children go to live in a foster home when their parent(s) is in jail. Addressing such a difficult topic, in a way that young children can understand, is commendable. -Cynthia Miller Lovell, author of The Star: A story to help young children understand foster care, and Questions & Activities for The Star: A handbook for foster parents
