Rating: Summary: wonderful books Review: I bought these as a gift for my 5 year old nephew - what a hit! He calls me on the phone so he can read them to me. His mother loves them too, she told me that other books were not keeping his interest, or were frustrating him, so that he wouldn't read them. She actually had to tell him they could call me back to read some more because he just wanted to read ALL the books to me at once! Highly recommend
Rating: Summary: Clifford is GREAT Review: I bought these for my youngest daughter when she was in 1st grade and struggling a little with phonics and reading. She was already a huge fan of Clifford, so when I handed her the books, she was delighted. We worked together on these some, but honestly, she didn't need help from me, because the books are so good that they teach the children how to read and understand phonetics. She's now an avidly reading 3rd grader, and we've passed the Clifford books onto another struggling 1st grader. What Fun!
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: I have got four children and I have been through many early reading series. This is by far the best. My children love Clifford and love these books. They went from knowing nothing to being able to read within about a month of getting these books (including the first set). They still like to read them even though they are now able to tackle far more advanced books. I wish there were more sets for them to continue to learn with.
Rating: Summary: Great for all ages Review: My daughter is almost two and loves these books. They are simple enough for her to hold her short attention. She has me read them over and over again and has even learned several words from the books. Don't think you can only buy these for beginning readers. They are a great way to introduce stories to toddlers as well!
Rating: Summary: Great way to start to read buy your child must be ready Review: These Clifford readers are as good as any phonics readers I have seen, and they have the important feature that they star Clifford and his friends, beloved by children everywhere. There are two important things to remember when buying this (or another) set of beginning readers. First, be sure to buy the FIRST Clifford set first. (I made the mistake of buying Set 2 first, and quickly discovered that they were considerably more advanced than Set 1; the sets are really meant to be read in order.) Second, it is very important to keep in mind that your child will only be able to benefit from early readers once he or she is ready to read. I bought these for my son when he was not yet four years old. I would read them occasionally to him, but he had no interest whatsoever in trying to read them himself. But suddenly, about midway through kindergarten, he became very interested in learning to read. The Clifford books make it effortless to teach him. Each morning and evening we read a new Clifford book and he is so eager to do so. The stories are very sweet and star all of the characters from the TV show version of Clifford. In summary, if you're ready for a set of beginning readers, these are the ones I'd recommend.
