Summary: 2 Year Old Daughter Related To This
Review: I would say this book subtly encourages self-awareness. My 2 year old seemed to have an epiphany when we got to the line that says "sometimes Caillou says no when he really means yes." She looked so happy to hear that verbalized. She also liked the part about how Caillou doesn't like to be disturbed when he's playing. I think hearing these ideas in a story makes her realize that her feelings are normal and consequently she seems to have mellowed a bit from her frequent nay-saying.

Summary: Think before you buy any caillou book!
Review: My 2 year old loves to watch Caillou on PBS. Although the show is supposed to have with the wellness of children in mind, it seems that some looneys have been hired on the staff of Caillou...Some episodes introduce things to children that might not be necessary and might introduce fears in children! Don't get me wrong, some episodes are great...others well need to be turned OFF! Also, the books are EXTREMELY different than the cartoon. If you want your child to learn to not listen to you, whine, cry A LOT, etc., the book is for you. If not, think about other books! For instance, Share and Take Turns is a much better choice than the sharing book that has been written about Caillou! Turns out, my daughter likes this book better anyways.
Hopefully, parents etc. will read this review and know that they should preread or preview any caillou product before buying. That way, you know what you are purchasing. It's taken us a couple weeks to wean our daughter off of Caillou crying, saying mine all the time, saying no all the time, etc. Now, she's back to being herself and we are selling almost all of our caillou books (but no dvds FORTUNATELY!).

Summary: Caillou Says No
Review: My 23-month old daughter has asked to read this book over and over again. Basically, Caillou spends a lot of time in the book saying "no" to everything and being very whiny. It seems to have helped her let go of some of this behavior in herself. As with the other Caillou books, I do a fair amount of editing as I read, so that the story better reflects our own situation. I give it 5 stars based on her enjoyment of it, and on the extent to which it seems to have helped us deal with this issue in our own lives.
