Rating: Summary: A Most Important Lesson Review: As a first grade teacher for 15 years, I have used this book on the first week of school as we begin our year learning about "Friends, families and ourselves." I keep the book on the tray of my white board all year and constantly refer to the title and the lessons learned within. It is the year-long theme of my class and the thread that I try to weave throughout every lesson and life experience that we share. It is the most important thing I teach all year-- that we are all alike in so many ways and yet we are, indeed, different. But the differences are what makes us special, not bad or wrong. It is this lesson that I most want my students to take with them, for if they learn this, there will be less hate and intolerance in our world.
