Summary: The Root Cellar
Review: The Root Cellar begins with Rose. She is 12 years old and orphaned due to her grandmother's passing. Rose has no other family that can take her. She must go live in Canada with an aunt who she has never met. Rose feels very lonely in her aunt's chaotic household. While looking for a quiet place , Rose finds a root cellar. When Rose comes out of it, she is on the same farm during the 1800's. Rose meets Will and Susan while she is there and quickly befriends them. Will goes off to fight in the Civil War. Rose and Susan go to Washington to try to find Will because they have not heard from him.
Janet Lunn did a good job tying the history and fiction together. She keeps the reader interested in the history, and she also makes you want to know what is going to happen to the characters. Janet Lunn also touches on the aspect of losing people and forming new relationships. This book is good and interesting.

Summary: Not the best book i read but not the worst!!
Review: I read The Root Cellar in school and i have to say that it's strong point was at the beginning. But it was very informative about the Civil War. I didn't think that that was the best ending the author chose and it could have been a little more exciting but it wasn't that bad!

Summary: The BEST book ever!!
Review: If you like adventure then you will love this book "The Root Cellar" by Janet Lunn. This book is about a girl named Rose who goes to relative to relative . If you are wondering why, it is because her parents died when she was a young girl. and she went to live with her grandma. Her grandma died and then Rose started to go from place to place because the relative died or didn't want her around. Rose travels back in time by going into a root cellar. This book is called "The Root Cellar" because there is a root cellar where Rose enjoys being alone. Rose was never around kids her age , but her grandmothger told her that she was better off without them. She meets two children who are around her age and they create a strong bond. Rose and Sisan, who is one of her new friends, go on an exciting adventure they will remember for the rest of their lives!!!!!! The other child that Rose meets is Will. The book is a five star book to me and I suggest this book yo anyone who doesn't like reading. I hate reading and I loved this book. This book was so descriptive. When you read this book and think about it the book is so relaxing. If you close your eyes you will see the images in your mind it is so descriptive! So anyone can read it!!!!!

Summary: Wonderful
Review: My book the Root Cellar, is about a girl named Rose. The thing about Rose is that her past is so sad that she never can be happy over anything. So she goes to a special school with only girls. At this school it doesnt really help her until she moves in with a family with twins. At this house Rose discovers a strange root cellar. Then all of a sudden right when the sun and the moon line up she got transported to the 19th century. There Rose meets a boy and a girl named Will and Susan. Together they get mingled into amazing adventures and also meet many other new friends.
Personally in the book my favorite character in the book was Rose because she was so brave, helpful, and a good friend. she was brave because even after her mother and grandmother had died she still wasnt scared of dying. She was also brave by aiding Susan and Will on their adventures and not backing out when the soldier forced them to feed him. The helpful part of Rose was when she never gave up hope for Will. However the most important thing is Rose's friendship. Well thats because she never stoped to find Will even though everybody said he was probably dead and when she always visited them when they mostly needed her comfort.
The most favorite part in the Root Cellar to me is when Rose and Susan go out looking for Will from the war. Well thats because they traveled for days and weeks to find him without their own supply of food. They had to hunt and feed themselves to stay alive. the two also ran into some nasty trouble like the wounded soldier who begged for help with his war rifle right by him. Although that showed how much they all cared about each other and how good of a friendship they had. This is one of the best books that I have ever read, I would truly recomment this book to you.

Summary: an informative read but a thin novel
Review: This ia a story of a little girl who moves in with her aunt. She is used to living in Paris, with every luxory. She doesn't like her aunt much, or her cousins. she finds a root cellar which takes her to another time. Just when this book begins to get a little monotonous, something exciting or intersesting happens. This book leaves you with a feeling of wonder.
