Summary: this just gets better and better
Review: This is an amazing book with questions and actions surrounding each and every character. This book kicks off with Ryushi and Whist continuing their adventure toward Ryushi's double-crossing, tratior brother, Takami's, keep. However, Since Takami is the Thane of the province of Maar, he is well protected. The path is even more treacherous when Whist, who is extremely untrustworthy himself, betrays Ryushi and Ryushi ends up in a one-on-one duel with his brother. However, it seems as if Aurin, the Princess of Kirin Taq, does not paticularly like Takami, and Ryushi ends up in Aurin's clutches when he becomes prisoner in Fane Araq, the princesses fortress. Meanwhile, Kia, Hochi, Gerdi, Jaan, and Peliqua are waiting for a decison from the Koth Taraan. In the end, Kia is faced with a trial of will which if she wins, can begin to shift the balance of the battle. Hochi, however, is busy trying to discover the meaning of Tachaa's present, which mean Broken Sky, or "divison with the eventual hope of unity." Things become very hectic and bizarre as in this book you discover more of the strange land of Kirin Taq, Princess Aurin, the Koth Taraan and the Keriags. The battle for all of Kirin Taq is about to begin, lives will be lost, and Parakka will have to do whatever it takes to overcome the odds and "take control" of Kirin Taq

Review: Wow. Thats all you can say about this book. The Parakkans continue to defend Base Usudo, their Kirin Taq base, from the attacks of the mysterious banes. Ryushi, meanwhile, is in shock about what is happening between him and the princess of Kirin Taq, Aurin. Aurin slowly begins giving Ryushi more privilages like being able to train (without use of spirit-stones, of course) and getting real food instead of the normal prisoner food. Ryushi thinks nothing of that and even when Aurin's visits become more and more often, he still thinks nothing of that. But when Aurin kisses him, he soon realizes that she could be falling in love with him. Ryushi uses his influence over Aurin to find out a secret, which he soon passes to Gerdi when he comes, that could change the fate of the war. Ryushi, declining the offer to leave Fane Araq, elects to stay prisoner so that Parakka will have someone from the inside to help in the soon-coming battle. But Gerdi delivers the message to the rest of the Parakkans which they were hoping that they wouldn't get: Aurin has found Base Usudo and will mobilize in 30 cycles. The Parakkans must do something strong and soon, and they think that they might just have found the answer to their prayers. But it will still take everything they have to "take control" of the war for Kirin Taq.
