Review: I used the Jungle Drum as part of a first grade unit on the Rain Forest. The book accurately depicts the South American rain forest and the animals that live there. The skillful, simple-seeming text is enhanced by the mysteriously three dimensional cut-paper illustrations. Not only was this an enjoyable and entertaining book for my students, but it offered me many activity ideas for tie-ins with language arts.
