Rating: Summary: Train Song Review: In the story there were different kinds of trains. There were strong trains and big trains. There were coaches, clubcars and dining room cars, too! They go to different kinds of places. If you like trains, you should read this book.
Rating: Summary: Gorgeous Illustrations Review: My 2 year old loves hearing this story and I love staring and the rich illustrations. This is, by far, the most beautifully illustrated book I've encountered so far. ...shopping for other Mike Wimmer-illustrated books so I can buy them all.
Rating: Summary: Great text! Review: The text is terrific, lyrical and (mostly) well-metered. My two-year-old son is a train fanatic, so it's a hit. The illustrations are lovely, but very dark - difficult to enjoy when reading in bed at night unless the "big light" is on. Mostly a great read!
Rating: Summary: Like you're on a train Review: This Book Is great for children that love trains. When i was 5 and under i was CUKOO about trains. When i recieved this book i went nuts and i loved it! Parents Buy it! its great for a gift. Heres my favorite line. ( Spikes and Crossties- smooth worn rails- through the twilight- whistle wails- feel the rythm- hear the sound- clickety-clacking- homeward bound. ) Thats just one of the pages and theres many more even better so get this book. They'll love it!
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable Illustrations Review: This is one of my all-time favorite children's books. The rhythmic text evokes the rhythm of a train, and the illustrations are almost eerie to me in their ability to transport me to a different place and time. I can almost hear the screen door creak, smell the smells and feel the heat as the train travels its cross country route. I also recommend "All the Places to Love", also illustrated by Mr. Wimmer. To me he has that rare ability to pull you into his paintings.
