Rating: Summary: Mini Reference Book.... Review: It is thematically organized into seven sections and then is packed with figures, facts and quotable statistics. This is a compact guide to the animal kingdom, from insects, fish, and amphibians to reptiles, birds and mammals. Over 1,000 full color illustrations, cutaway artworks, photographs and diagrams make this visually stunning. The content includes: An Introduction: Evolution, Fossils, Dinasaurs, Vertebrates, Invertebrates, Mollusks, Arthropods and Classification. Other creatures that appear: Insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals and domestic animals. Pages have a main heading, and introduction, data boxes on some pages, labels on the pictures, captions, pictures with more information around them and down the sides of the pages, there are section names. The pictures of insects, prehistoric reptiles and modern reptiles are not for the faint of heart. About half way into the book birds "finally" appear. Humans are just grouped along with all the other animals, which I thought was a bit strange. I mean, even cats and dogs were given their own section! There is a nice index to complete this book.
