Rating: Summary: Excellant system for slow learners ! Review: This year our school district started summer courses in all subjects called "Feats in the Heat." I taught 2 math classes for 5th and 6th graders who were trailing behind the rest of their classmates. My fellow teachers pooled their resources and gave them to me. One of the books was the above book (never used). For the two classes, I taught all sorts of ways, and the best one was having the kids make up their OWN short stories (the book's stories are too long!), songs, phrases, and poems to remember times tables. They had a ball and were very creative, but the best part is that it was much more effective. Obviously, doing this themselves brought much bigger rewards in accomplishment and creative thinking. So the idea is great, the book is way too expensive, and the best way is to have the kids make up their own. I am going to use this idea again!
Rating: Summary: Not worth the money Review: Too detailed. A few stories are cute and remembered easily, but the rest are too detailed for my fourth graders, and they forget which detail is used to remember the fact.
