Rating: Summary: I thought they were hopeless! Review: I teach 5th grade and thought 2 of my kids would never learn their times tables. I thought I had tried everything. Their parents were baffled. Then I found this book and presto! my two kids learned in no time at all! One of the kids is a resource kid too, with almost no memory skills. The book is way overpriced but it is so effective that it's totally worth every penny!
Rating: Summary: Times Tables the Fun Way : Book for Kids : A Picture Method Review: It Really worked! My son is Dyslexic, and we have struggled with learning times tables for over a year.( and still didn't know them.) I was shocked (3) 35 minute sessions and my son knew his times tables. ( I cried ) It was a joyous moment for me. I called all his past teachers and told them about this book. This is a must have for any child who needs assistance with the multipication facts.
Rating: Summary: A must book for kids struggling with multiplication facts!!! Review: My 3rd grade daughter has a learning disability. After 2, 1 hour sessions she learned all her multiplication facts thru 9's. It is amazing!! I read the book and was alittle unsure it would help her but WOW I could not believe the difference it made. I took the book to her school and showed the principal and her resource room teacher. Then my daughter demonstrated her knowledge and they were amazed. They are now ordering the books and flash cards for the school. Anyone with a child struggling with their multiplication facts this book is a must - It really works in a very short time. I am so grateful we found it. My daughter is so proud of herself she likes to tell everyone! Thank You to the writers you are miracle workers!!!!!
Rating: Summary: GREAT for ALL Review: My 5th grader is a straight A student! She needed absolutely NO help with her multiplication tables. The EMI teacher that works in the school I am an aide in showed me this book. It was so neat! I see first hand how it helps students who have so much trouble learn their math! I thought the stories were so cute! I took it home to share with my daughter! Even those few facts that stumped her for more than a few seconds, those stories click and she knows them instantly without having to 'think; about it. There is a short, large print, FUN, 1 page story for only the hardest problems (15) to read with your child or they can read it themselves. After any one (young or young at heart) reads the story 1 time they know what the pictures that go with the story represent without having to read the whole thing again! There is also a very short 'reminder' with the picture about the numbers. After a few times looking at those they KNOW what the numbers are! The facts that don't have a story the authors do wonderful with explaining how easy those ones are - 0's, 1's, 2's, 5's and give ways to remember the '9 tricks'. I guess kids could take the lengthy time to write their own story and make pictures with the numbers but at that rate, well.......... i don't think I have the time to think about that! Each story in the book only takes a few minutes of your time! It is thoughtfully put together in 'chapters'. Great buy as it is a resource and can be passed around. Very price compatible to other books. Not overpriced for its use, especially because I think ANY book is a value if you share it!

Rating: Summary: It Works! Review: My son, a rising fourth-grader who has ADHD and poor memory skills, strugged all last spring in school trying to memorize his math tables. We drilled and drilled, made flash cards, bought a times-table placemat - all to little avail. Even if he got some of the facts to stick with him through the test the next day, by the next week, he had forgotten them. The only ones he could remember were ones we had done some kind of word or image association with, and I was daunted by the idea that I needed to make up an association for EVERY MATH FACT. Then I found out that the Rodriguezes had done that with this book, so I bought it. And I can tell you unequivocally, it works. Using a combination of a somewhat silly picture and a story to go with it, the child uses visualization and association to remember the fact. It especially appeals to kids who have strong verbal/language skills and are creative. My son learns one math table a week (working only 1/2 hour at a time three days a week), and the next week, he still knows them. AND, he thinks it's really fun to see what the next picture and story will be. Boy, was this worth it (and boy, was all that drilling that made everybody miserable last spring NOT worth it) to buy this book. A special note, the spiral edition has heavy-coated pages, so it can stand up to plenty of use, which it will get when we use it for our younger child and lend it out to teachers with our recommendation that they obtain one for their classroom. Many thanks to the Rodriguezes for helping us get out of the multiplication table hassle we were in.

Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING TEACHING TOOL Review: Over the past 20 years of teaching children with learning challenges, Times Tables the Fun Way is by far the best instructional method that I have found to help children learn their multiplication facts. Children who have difficulty memorizing facts, need something to associate the answer with...which makes it easier to remember (like a "jingle"). I have also encouraged many parents to use these materials with their children....all have met with great success. I highly recommend this instructional resource. Rating: Summary: Disappointed! Review: Received a flyer for this book at school, ordered one and sent it back. Not at all what I expected. Stories were too long.
Rating: Summary: Didn't work for me Review: This book did not work for my low students. A few of these are cute and memorable, but most are too long. The kids liked the stories but they didn't help them memorize the facts.
