Summary: I Know A Rhino
Review: An outstanding visual and lyrical story about silly animals and the situations they bring to our imaginations. I purchased this book for my great nephew shortly after taking him on a trip to the zoo... he loved identifying the animals, remembering them at the zoo, and giggling at the possibility of taking tea with a rhino or taking a bath with a giraffe. He wanted to read it over and over... and so did I!

Summary: A favorite at our house!
Review: Fuge's engaging rhymes (I know a hippo, and when she's not busy, we spin round and round until we get dizzy) and the gorgeous pictures really hold the attention of the two- to three-year old set. The book capitalizes on the the beginnings of pretend play (all the animals are really the child's stuffed toys) and language skills of children this age. It has become my daughter's favorite, and we have to read it every single night, sometimes twice.

Summary: Great for Bedtime
Review: Have you ever sipped tea with a rhino, sang songs with an ape, or treated a dragon for a cold? Well, Charles Fuge has a story for you called "I Know a Rhino" which invites you into a loveable animal adventure that will make your imagination run wild like the girl in the story. All while just being at home a girl has lots of fun with eight different animals which are all her friends and at the end of the book you will see why. The text is told in first person and printed in a thick black ink that really stands out against the bright pages. Each double spread page is devoted to one animal which gives the girl different emotions that are vivid in the watercolor paintings. The impressionistic art accurately portrays the size difference between the girl and each animal; he even makes you turn the book vertically to show the height of the giraffe. The balance between the text and illustrations is unparalleled and makes this a picture book that will want to be read over and over again. This is the ultimate animal fantasy for every preschooler to realize that in their imaginative world they can do anything even if they are stuck at home.

Summary: Amazing, Charming, and Delightful Book
Review: I just discovered this book and LOVE the illustrations. All the animals have such charm our preschoolers stay focused on this one! It's an instant favorite of mine because of the picture on the last page so much like my now grown girls. They always loved their stuffed animals and this book really shows how one little girl can have a whole animal "family" all her own. This book was truly delightful! I look forward to more books from this author/illustrator.

Summary: It should be a classic!!!
Review: My one-year-old daughter adores this book. She shrieks and claps her hands throughout, pointing each new animal and even kissing them. Once we get to the end, she flips the pages back to the beginning and I have to read it all over again. But it's such a cute book, I don't mind at all. The illustrations are fantastic and hilarious. The story really captures the imagination of childhood; little ones will certainly relate to this wonderful tale.

Summary: Great photos & rhymes
Review: This book, as with all Charles Fuge books I have read to date, has beautiful, whimsical drawings that are just a joy to look at. This book has great rhymes throughout. I definitly recommend the Board Book version if you have a baby- mine is 6 months old & this is one of his favorite books- he loves to try to turn the pages. I am sure it will continue to be entertaining to him for a few more years :-)

Summary: A delightful story for parent and child
Review: This delightful, sweet, and incredibly illustrated book is our favorite. After a trip to the zoo we brought it home for our 3 and 1 year old to enjoy. The illustrations have amazing detail and capture such emotion. The rhymes are very cute and catchy. Our 1 year old squeals with excitement every time she finds it and she will sit and flip through the pages over and over and over. We love it!

Summary: Can't say enough good things about this
Review: This is our two-year old's favorite book, and has been for months. I also enjoy it, which is saying a lot, given the repetition with which this book is requested. The pictures are great, the text is great, the story is wonderful - I know all these animals, we do fun things together, "because the live with me" - showing a preschooler's imagination at work with her stuffed animals. There's about an equal distribution of male, female, and unspecified animals. Best of all, the text is large enough that it works well in the dark - perfect for putting your child to sleep. (This book is part of the children's book genre that ends with the child asleep.) Heck, the book is addictive enough that soon you'll be able to read the whole book without looking at it!
