Rating: Summary: Perfect for working Moms Review: I LOVE this book! I loved it even more when my 2 1/2 year old "read" it to me.The book tells a story of what Mom will do with her baby when she comes home from work. Like "Dance down the hall" and "make a cup of tea and give baby a sip". My daughter tries to re-inact the scenes. One of the scenes is of Mommy leaving on a small light at bedtime. My daughter asked about her "small light". We don't normally read books in my rocking chair, but she saw that in the book and wanted to start. We now dance (or fly) down the hall.
Rating: Summary: The best time of the day for a working mother and baby. Review: This is my 19-month-old daughter's new favorite book. She insists on reading it during the day with her babysitter and we read it together in the evening. The mother and child in this book go through soothing evening rituals that are comforting and loving. The storybook mamma is dressed in a very timeless and feminine dress and the whole evening is a celebration of her love for her child. They dance, sip tea, take a bath, put away the blocks, and of course read stories. This may be a bit different from the life of a real working mother, who often finds the evening rushed and hectic, but the perspective from the child is glorious, as the best time of the day has arrived. The illustrations are simple and cheerful and the text is a beautiful rhyme. In fact, I often find myself singing it to my daughter because it has a nice meter. One of the nice things about this book is that it doesn't matter if mamma is an astronaut, a corporate executive, a teacher, or an administrative assistant. The book is not about what mamma does for a living; it is what mamma does for the child. The mother is this book is just mamma-and she loves her baby.
Rating: Summary: Every working mother should buy this book Review: This is my absolute favorite book to read to my son and daughter. Until recently I worked full time and went to school 3/4 time. During the work week I got home at 8:00 at night and had an hour to spend with my 3 and 5 year old. We would read most of the time and they asked for this book every night. My son in particular is a mommy's boy and he really missed seeing me everyday. He could relate to the special things you get to do when "mama" comes home. This book is pretty short, and simple. The illustrations are beautiful. This book also makes a great baby shower gift. I give it 5+ stars!
Rating: Summary: This is a very special book for anyone who is a working mom. Review: When Mama Comes Home Tonight has become as important a sleeptime ritual for my inafnt son and I as Goodnight Moon! I particularily love reading the page "We'll read your favorite stories in our cozy Rocking Chair." as he and I cuddle up in our rocking chair. The illustrations are beautiful and soft. Perfect for setting the bedtime mood. I give this book to all my friends and family who are working moms. Thank you to Eileen Spinelli and Jane Dyer. Bravo.
Rating: Summary: I can relate to the message in this story. Review: When Mamma Comes Home Tonight was the first book I bought my infant daughter for Christmas. The book focuses on the activities that mom and baby will enjoy now that the work day is over. The total focus is on the baby and enjoying that wonderful time. The illustrations are very well done and will be enjoyed for years. The story is simple and straightforward. I highly recommend it for us working moms who work hard through the day and delight in their time with baby.
