Summary: My 18-month-old son's current favorite
Review: I initially purchased this book thinking it would be a good thing to bring along on plane trips with my toddler son. I really just bought it because my son loves the Baby Galileo character- I didn't even notice the listed dimensions or the fact that it was an unfolding book.

At 12 by 11 inches (collapsed), the book is far too large to use on the plane (oops!) but my son loves it nonetheless. It can be read as a traditional book; each page has some text briefly describing the images in the picture above. [Note: A couple of the reviews posted here mention sea life and sea creatures... there is no sea life at all in this book. The book is about things in the sky: stars, planets, clouds, birds, bees, etc. They must have been reviewing a different title.] There are tons of creatures and things scattered across the pages, in relevant settings. My son has already learned a few new words from it. One thing that's nice is that there is often more than just one image of a particular item, say a leaf or a bee. It's fun to ask my son "where's a bee?" And see him look around and identify all the bees he can find.

When completely unfolded, you can arrange the book so that it stands in a big circle around your child. (My son prefers it to be more of a rectangular pen than a circle.) The unfolded book has two sides- one with Baby-Einstein-styled illustrations and narrative text, the other with photographs of celestial objects and their names. My son enjoys looking at both sides.

I recommend that you keep the book in a safe place and only let your child use it when supervised. This is more than just a book- it's an experience; a toy. My son loves to re-arrange it, and frequently attempts to climb over and under it in order to see the other side and to retrieve toys to bring with him into the enclosure. Although the book is much more durable than, say, a Pat the Bunny title, we have already had to tape two of the pages back together, and anticipate having to perform more such repairs in the near future.

Summary: Great book!
Review: My 14-month old loves this book. She always brings it to me and wants it all unfolded and set up around her in a circle so that she sits inside it. Lately she has been having fun pointing at the different drawings of the different ocean creatures. She is not as into the actual photographs on the opposite side. My only complaint is that the book is not very sturdy. We have already thrown away half of it because as she plays with it and tries to use it to pull herself up, she rips the "pages" off (each "page" is about 10x14 inches) or splits it down the seams leaving only 2 or 3-page pieces. I am considering buying a new one although that one will fall apart just as quickly so not sure if I should waste the money. She does love it though and it is a very unique idea in a book form.

Summary: 1 year old loves this book!
Review: My toddler (20 months) loves this book! We purchased it several months ago and while she enjoyed it then, it has really become a favorite more recently.

The book itself is well-done, like many of the Baby Einstein products. One side features animated sealife while the other include photographs of the real animals. We go through and label the animals, the colors, etc as my daughter points out what she sees in the book.

The highlight, though, is that the book can be unfolded to make a circle of sealife! We set it up and our daughter sits in the middle and points out all her animal friends. Or, and we find this quite often, we set up the book and she brings her toys into it with her and plays inside the circle.

I have had no problem with the book not holding up well, but my daughter has not tried to pull-up on it. It is still in great condition and I found the cardboard pages to be quite sturdy.

All in all, I would highly recommend this book as an addition to your child's library. It has been much fun for my daughter and I don't see her interest in it fading anytime soon.

Summary: 1 year old loves this book!
Review: This is so great! It doesn't take up much space, so you can pack it on vacation, yet it unfolds to become a nice size book/toy. My son loves it, my only complaint is that the book is now held together by tape, as he has torn apart nearly every page. It would be great if the pages were held together with a tougher material, I'm sure he isn't the only kid who is tough on his books.

Summary: Love our "baby corral"
Review: We received as a gift for our 5 month old baby. I saw an opportunity to "corral" our little fella by connecting the ends in a circle around him, and the bright pictures really captivated his attention. I could lay him in it and he would be occupied for about 30 minutes (!), which was great for getting things done (mommy is always in view, of course). He loves to sit in it with Mommy, and twirl around and read it - it's a fun way to read a book in an unconventional way. He's not as interested yet in the more realistic pictures on the other side - it's a book to grow with him! We LOVE this book!
