Rating: Summary: A very good book Review: Another one of my favorites. Sierra ranks right up there with Pride as one of my favorite Whitebrook horses. His personality is sooo different from the other horses portrayed in the series, and because of that I find him to be more believable. The frustrations that go with training him are wonderfully written, and I found myself laughing out loud many times at Sierra's antics throughout the course of the book. I want to see some Sierra babies racing, so Thoroughbred MUST continue as a series so that all of the original generation horses can be brought back into the storylines. Thoroughbred can NOT be cancelled!
Rating: Summary: despite what people say... Review: Despite what people say, I personally think this was a very good book. Sierra is a horse being trained as a flat racer. when he fails to show promise, Mike is ready to give up, with a buyer in Florida coming to look Sierra over. Previously Sierra had jumped over the paddock fence while Tor, one of Samantha's friends and jumper coach is over. He see's the potetential of Sierra being a steeplechaser. One day Tor and Samantha are out on the trail and Sierra easily clear a 6 foot fallen tree. Tor and Samantha train Sierra for a local steeplechase for 3 year olds with the intention of Tor riding. When Tor breaks his arm, Samantha must ride Sierra in the gruling 2 mile race. Read this book! It's one of the best. I liked it because my dream is to learn to steeplechase. I also liked how Samantha and Tor worked together to train Sierra
PS. If you like these, also check out the Heartland series.
Rating: Summary: Awesome!!! Review: I love this book!!!!! I would have even read this book 2x exsept i got it from the libery so i couldn't.Anyway, samatha rides Seirra every day and she's not improveing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sammy (samantha's nick name)knows seirra can race but mike (ashleias boy friend who runs the stables Pride being seirras mother also as ashleias horse)has practicly given up on seirra. the year befor seirra had jumped over her stable fence and sammy, tor (her boy friend), and her other friend had to corner her to catch her. (her being seirra) tor and sammy were riding on a trail (sammy riding seirra) all went well untill sammy got 2 relaxed in the sadle and seirra went into a burst of speed. sammy tried to controll her but she had the bit. sudenly sammy saw the last thing she wanted to - a 6 foot high (in the spot they were) fallen down tree to sammy's relife seirra cleared it fine but sammy was hanging of the saddle. seirra made a sudden turn and sammy fell out in to a buch of sticks and got all scraped up.tor cauht seirra and rode her home and sammy rode tors horse. as a last resort sammy and tor decide to turn seirra into a steeplechaser and all gose well. mike agrees to enter her in a locle compation. " this is seirras last chance if she dosen't do well i'm selling her to a breeder in florda." he said. but 2 weeks before the compation tor broke his arm!!! and now sammy has to ride seirra in the race, will her father let her??... ... more important how will sammy do this she's not even that good at jumping yet. then tor reminds her about what mike said and knows she must try. i highly recremend this book to animal and horse lovers.
Rating: Summary: This is one of the best TB books! Review: I think this is my second fav TB book next to #2. In this book Serria the orenary colt is the horse star. Serria is a dismal faliure at flat racing and everyone just about given up hope. Everyone but Smantha Mclean that is. She's loved the liver chesnut colt since he was born. After Serria jumps a paddock fence and a huge fallen tree at Whitebrook, Samantha and Tor ( her boyfriend) set out to trian Serria as a steeplechaser. They really begin to work hard when Mike annoces that Serria may be sold to a breeder in florida. Another big twist is put on the story when Tor, hte colts jockey, breaks his arm and can't ride Serria in his first race. Samantha who knows alomst nothing about jumping must ride the colt to victory or he will be sold (If you're wondering where Pride is he was injured and all this is happening while he is recovering. He does race again though.). Will this unlikely couple make it to the winners circle? REad to find out. I highly recomend this series to all horse lovers. I have all TB books and have been reading this series since 3rd grade.
Rating: Summary: a good book for horse fans. Review: I want to start off saying that Sammy is my 2nd fave. character( after Ashliegh), but I hate Tor.And I dont like Beth.I might have acted the same way as Sammy did to Beth.Seirra is cool, but I like the flat-racing better than steeplechasing. But once Sammy starts caring for Sierra, she starts to ignore Pride.I LOVE PRIDE! It was also about time Ashliegh and Mike got engage!
Rating: Summary: a good book for horse fans. Review: In this book you meet Sierra, a mischievious colt at Whitebrook farm. Sierra seems to have no potential as a race horse, but Samantha does not want to give up hope. Tor thinks that Sierra will be great at steeplechase so they give it a try. The reason I gave this book four stars was because it was not about horse racing, which was a little disappointing. Also, Pride gets hurt which is sad, and his racing career is threatened.
Rating: Summary: Awesome!!! Review: Sierra's Last Chance... Samantha is the head trainer's daughter on Whitebrook Farm. She loves the spirited colt, Sierra, who is destined to become a great racehorse, from the start. But the mischievous colt is always pulling tricks, and he fails dismally in his training to be a flat racer. Everyone, especially Mike, Sierra's owner, and Charlie, who helped Ashleigh turn Ashleigh's Wonder into a champion, is ready to give up on the colt. But when Sierra takes Samantha on a mad gallop through the woods, easily clearing a huge, fallen tree, Samantha's boyfriend, Tor, is sure that the colt could be a champion steeplechaser. When Samantha and Tor begin training Sierra over the jumps of a steeplechase course he does beautifully. Finally he is showing promise! Samantha is excited about the race Tor entered Sierra in--until Mike says that it is Sierra's last chance to prove himself! Samantha is grateful that Tor will be riding Sierra in his first race. Then, only weeks from the race, Tor breaks his arm. Samantha is terrified--she will have to ride the spirited colt over the perilous steeplechase course--and they have to do well. Now, with the race drawing nearer, can things get any worse? This is the best TB book beside #1--A Horse Called Wonder! If you like horses, you should be reading these books!
Rating: Summary: THIS WAS AN AMAZING BOOK!!!!!!!!! Review: This is a really good book, amazing. The way Sierra turns around is unbelievable!! I really think Samantha and Tor did a good job showing Mike that Sierra isn't a horse to give up on. I always knew Sierra had potential, but not as a jumper. Even though I don't know much about Steeplchasing, I learned a lot from this book about it. I learn lots of things about horse racing and stuff. I have to give Joanna Campbell credit fo writing such amazing books!!!!
