Rating: Summary: Without wonder Review: History is repeating itself....Christina is at Samantha McLeans house with a famous Olympic star, who has just invited her to Florida for the training chance of a lifetime! But the only seconds later she recieves a call from her mother: wonder is going into labor and its not good! Chris rushes home to find wonder in trouble. Her unborn foal is caught up somewhere inside of her! Ash "goes in" and fixes it but after all is said and done Wonder is still in bad shape. she is dehydrated, and bleeding internally. Ashleigh chooses to have her put down. But the grieving goes on for too long and ashleigh soon despises the colt, Wonder's star. she blames him for wonder's tragic death. Chris does what she can for the colt but ashleigh just cant stand him. Ash sends him to Townsend acres for training and chris is angry. Then chris understands why her mother had to get rid of star when she finds ashleigh crying over a broken picture of her and wonder in a field, the day after Clay townsend gave her half ownership. All in all it was an okay book. Its sad that wonder had to die like that though. And for all you people worried about the dissapearing characters...the more recent books are describing what happened to some of them. So just keep reading. this book is worth your money....
Rating: Summary: It's a waste of money Review: I cried when Wonder died, as I have been a fan of her. I also wished this one book could have been written from Ashleigh's view instead of Christina's. Other than that, it was fairly well written.
Rating: Summary: Without wonder Review: I read this book in summer 2002 (I ordered it from Amazon but it's sold out for two weeks so I havta wait which is partly why I gave it 4 stars!! >.>) and some parts were really sad, but it's kind of confusing because it says Wonder's Legacy .. and some people might get confused and think it's about Legacy. Why does Ashleigh hate Star? And why is he sent back to Townsend Acres? I don't recommend #37 because it's boring. This book was okay, but I lost it so I havta order it again from Amazon .. too bad it's sold out.
Rating: Summary: Sigh... Review: I was such a fan of this series when I was in elementary school. In fact, even after I grew old enough to realize how insipid the books are I kept buying them anyway, just for fun. Now, I am a continuity freak. And Joanna Campbell's lackeys have been breaking continuity since day one. I minded, but I kept plowing on through the books anyway. Did I protest when they randomly gave Christine a cousin in New York? Did I care when not even one book could keep information correct (Who exactly IS Missy's mother? They keep changing it!) Did I care that every relationship in the series is way too perfect to the point of being unrealistic? That they insinuate that you have to live in the country in order to be a proper horse lover? That I'm getting really sick of them winning everything all of the time with their all-powerful perfect horses? Well, I did, but not enough to stop reading. But THIS book, that changed things. I never liked Christina, frankly it's getting to the point where I don't like Melanie, and not even bringing Samantha back was enough to sway me into LIKING the books. Frankly, I don't care if Christina is torn between Dylan and Parker. If I wanted to see badly done teen drama, I'd go watch WB 14. But THIS book is where I stopped buying them and lost what little respect I had left for the dying Thoroughbred series. Just let it go already! It's only going to go downhill from here. That's how these long series work. My main issue is that the entire book is a lie. If I'm not mistaken, Wonder's last foal was that horse Christina sold in the book where she got Sterling. I think people have a Wonder fetish. Frankly I'm sick of hearing about her and her amazingly perfect offspring. I think the real reason we stopped hearing about Sterling is because, oh no, we can't have the heroine's horse not be related to Wonder in any way shape or form! And I can understand wanting to focus back on racing, but did they have to make such an out of character 180 degree turnaround? Why not just focus on Melanie or something? Or better yet, why not just stop the series while it still has fans? Because as I look at the Amazon.com reviews for later books, I can see the stars slowly disappearing...
Rating: Summary: Star Makes his Appearance! Review: In "A Horse Called Wonder" a sickly foal is born on Townsend Acres--the farm where Ashleigh Griffen's parents found a job as breeders after they left their own farm, and sold Ashleigh's favorite mare--Stardust. After she left Stardust Ashleigh swore she would never give her heart to another horse--not even the new foal that everyone is sure will die. But in the end she can't help loving Ashleigh's Wonder, which is what everyone on the farm called the foal after Ashleigh miraculously raises her into a beautiful filly. But now Ashleigh must save her beloved horse from the auction block... Now Wonder has come to Whitebrook with Ashleigh, who has decided to breed her prize mare just one more time. But Wonder's last foal is born under even more tragic circumstances then his mother was, and Wonder has to be put down. With Ashleigh grieving over the loss of her horse, her orphaned baby colt will surely die. Ashleigh's daughter, Christina, has also vowed never to give her heart to another horse after she found Sterling Dream and has been eventing him and working towards her dream of winning an olympic medal. But she loves Wonder's Star--she named him because of the beautiful star on his forehead--and she raises him from a shy, sickly, little foal to a promising colt. Then disaster strikes--after all her hard work Ashleigh is giving the colt to Brad Townsend--his co-owner--for training. Christina is losing the horse she has grown to love, and there is nothing she can do about it!

Rating: Summary: Sad, but awsome Review: This book is great. It was extremely sad ..., but Christina's hope in Star cheered me up. I love the Thoroughbred series and this is one of the best yet. I read it in only one day! I reccomend it to anybody who loves horses.
Rating: Summary: It was soooo sad!!! Review: Without Wonder was soooo sad. I couldn't believe it when Wonder died. It seemed like she was supposed to live forever!! I cried the first 5 times I read it(I love to read books over and over). I understand why Ashleigh acted like she did towards Wonder's Star, I would have felt horrible, thinking it was my fault my favorite horse died!! It's the latest book I have read, and I'm looking for the ones after #36. The first I learn Wonder died, was when I was in the book store and I was looking through Star In Danger, and read a couple pages, including the part when Christina tells her dad that "Wonder's been dead for a year, and Mom should stop greiving" or something like that. Then I just HAD to go on a rampage for "Without Wonder". I think it was the best book in the Thoroughbred series. It's definitly a Must-Read.
