Summary: One of my favorites when I was younger
Review: For years I have been searching for this book. I read it when I was in junior high in the early 60s and it has remained my favorite. It disappeared from our school library and was never replaced. Amazon.com is the only place I have seen it listed. Kathryn Worth'sr style of writing, her charm and her story helped me to make a decision to become a history teacher. In "They Loved to Laugh" she included several historical events that occurred in America during the early 1800s. I was to remember them when I went on to study history in depth. The book is written for young women but I truly believe anyone interested in a nice story set in our country's early history will enjoy this book

Summary: My FAVORITE Book when I was in the 5th and 6th grades
Review: I discovered this book on the elementary school library shelf and took it out at least once a month for two years. I can't believe it's back in print. I will buy one for every young girl I know. I remember that I cried every time I read it, because I felt the charecters were my friends. READ THIS BOOK!

Summary: This has been one of my all-time favorites!
Review: I have owned this book for about 30 years, and I am delighted that it is back in print. I have tried for years and years to find additional copies of it in used book stores for my children and others who have read my copy and wanted it. I am so pleased it is again available.

It is a wonderful story about a young girl suddenly orphaned and accepted into the home of a Quaker doctor. I actually named my 17 year-old son, Jonathan, after one of the characters of this book.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: This was my mother's favorite book from her youth, and it is also mine. The story is so sweet, and you can't help but fall in love with the characters. The only copy I've ever seen is an old tattered copy in the stacks of a huge library. My mother and I have both searched bookstores for years, and I finally found it here! It will be a christmas gift for her, myself, my sister and my niece. Please read this book! I promise it will make you smile.
