Rating: Summary: MY NEW FAVORITE!!! Review: Jody and her family get to spend a year sailing around the world, studying dolphins. For Jody this is the chance of a lifetime. Jody loves dolphins.Jody records her struggles with an unexpected guest, the excitement of seeing a dolphin, and the normally daily stuff of being at sea. The story moves along quickly, and is pleasant enough. The stock characters were a bit disappointing. Jody's parents are scientists, and are good down to earth people. The businessmen who are largely sponsoring the trip send along a "clueless, detached scientist." It was mildly funny how the scientist pokes a minor hole in Jody's idealist picture of dolphins. We also get a "spoiled princess" who makes life challenging for Jody. All in all it is a fun story that most young girls will enjoy.

Rating: Summary: A Dolphin Story Review: The plot of the story is about an expedition to learn about dolphins. The people on the boat find a lone dolphin and name him Apollo. After a pod of dolphins comes by ,Jody [the main character] thinks Apollo might belong to that pod. When she tells everyone her plan , Brittany [another girl in the story] says that Jody is trying to run things herself. Jody's plan works and Apollo stays with the pod of dolphins. I gave the book this rating because it wasn't quite the greatest I've ever read. It did not have as much action as I expected

Rating: Summary: A Good Series Review: This book is the start of a fun and educational fiction series about a girl named Jody and her love of dolphins. The story can be interesting and can sometimes give you that good feeling inside. When I was a year or two younger, I found this series to be nearly flawless. I think it is because of my older age that I am noticing more things in the series that bother me.
In this book, inparticular, I did not find many problems, if any at all, though I know that older readers will find the human-like personality and knowledge of the dolphin Apollo to be unrealistic. It makes for a good story, though, and I think this series should be read in schools as well as at home. Dolphin lovers will most definately find this series to be fun and enchanting, and girls who aren't interested in dolphins may still find Jody's life on board a boat with family, friends, and enemies to be entertaining, though the story does focus a lot on dolphins. I give it 4 stars!
