Summary: Well-Tempered Realism With a Blend of Romance
Review: As a long-time Lurlene McDaniel fan, perhaps I'm a bit biased, but this is truly a lovely story that blends romance with the right approach to realism. As a long-term Hodgkin's survivor diagnosed at age 15 - yes, I was a bit younger than Luke in the book - I find that too often people cling to the good prognosis so common in this type of cancer, ignoring that it isn't a totally rosy picture. L. McDaniel skillfully navigates the reality balance by creating a picture neither overly cheerful or inappropriately bleak. I've read books featuring teens with Hodgkin's, and hers are the *only* ones realistic enough to satisfy me. For an unrealistic view, go read the sappy love stories where people are miraculously considered cured after a few treatments. For the real thing, read Lurlene McDaniel - particularly this book.

Summary: The best of Lurlene McDaniel
Review: Don't Die My Love is one of the first books I ever read by Lurlene McDaniel. And to this day it is still my favorite. I began reading her books when I was in Middle School and now I am 23 years old and still rereading her books. I am now collecting her series in order to keep them in my classroom when I become a Middle School Teacher. This book helps to teach about Leukemia and also about teenage love. Julie and Luke are very realistic characters. I also believe it's good for teens to be able to read stories that open their awareness. Many of McDaniel's books helped me become more aware of myself and how I treated others. I hope that she continues to extend these messages to young people through her writing. Don't Die My Love is a truly inspirational story.

Summary: Don't Die My Love-CRM
Review: Don't die, my love is written by Lurlene McDaniel. The book is fiction and is very dramatic. This is a book about a teenager named Julie Ellis, and her boyfriend Luke Muldenhover. They have been dating since 8th grade and are now in their senior year. Luke's father died when he was seven and has been raised by his mother, so it has been hard for her. Julie's father is a football coach at her school, Luke plays on the team as a quarterback and he is sure he is getting a scholarship. Luke and Julie look forward to spending their whole life together.
One day Julie finds a bump on Luke's neck and tells him to go see a doctor. When he goes to the doctor they tell him he has a rare disease called Hodgkin's Lymphoma. They say that they have to run many tests on him. Julie tries to help him as much as she possibly can. Luke knows how hard this will be to get through. The book focuses with the hardship of a loved one facing a deadly disease.
Lurlene's writing style makes it seem like you're really there. It would have been nice if Lurlene would have explained on the parts about the school and if Julie still graduated on time, with her always being at the hospital instead of school.
This book I learned a lot about diseases and how the people in the book tried helping Luke and making it seem like it wasn't that bad. I could relate this book to my self by the relationship that I have had with people and my little sister death because of a disease called SIDS.
I thought that this book was an awesome book and many people should read it.

Summary: Hmmmm...
Review: First of all seeing all the titles that Lurlene Mcdaniels wrote is a bit scary, they all pretty much have to do with death. however i saw that many people liked it so i bought it. it was DEFINETLY sad. but such a great bittersweet ending. although i didn't exactly like reading about Luke's illness, i couldn't put it down. It is pretty good though. Good enough to try out another of McDaniel's books.

Summary: A sad but awesome romance novel
Review: I was walking in abookstore one day, then I saw this book on a shelf full of Young Adult Fiction books. I read the back of the book and it seemed pretty nice to read, so I bought it. When I read it at home the next day, I was soooooooooooo captivated by it. When I got to the end, the part where Luke goes into the Operation room, I could feel my tears start to well up. I was really weeping by the time I had completed the book. My Numder One fav part of the book was when Julie saw the whole field of tulips that formed the words 'I love you'. I was so touched. If you're looking for a book to read, I seriously recommend it. It is really really good.

Summary: Don't Die, My Love
Review: Julie Ellis and Luke Muldenhower have been together since the eighth grade. Now they are in high school and are deeply in love. Luke is a football player, whose coach is Julie's father. Luke is about to receive an athletic scholarship to a top college and is very excited about it.
All of a sudden, Luke gets an infection inside his body and Julie commands him to go see a doctor, who tells him that what he's seeing doesn't look right and that Luke's infection is more than what he thinks. As the days at the hospital passed by, things with Luke's body grew and everything about it worries Julie too much. All Julie wants right now is for everything to be fine in the end. But will she get what she wishes for?
"Don't Die, My Love" is a wonderful, romantic, and realistic fiction story that brings out all of the deep feelings of two teenagers in love. It is a great book for those who love the realistic plots and for those who love romance.
