Summary: It is my second favourite book
Review: I love this book it is a hoot and every parent/grandparent or anyone who has ever tried to get a kid into bed on time will understand why this is an "almost bedtime story". I use it in my bedtime storytime atleast once every year and the kids and parents always love it. If your looking for another book like this try 10 MINUTES TO BEDTIME BY PEGGY RATHMANN.

Summary: fun for toddlers -- and not so bad for adults either!
Review: This book adds to a cherished history of tall tales as Granny goes to valiant efforts to get all the things her grandson Patrick needs in order to get to sleep at her house. Whenever Patrick tells her he lacks something (bed, pillow, blanket or teddy bear), the resourceful Granny goes to extraordinary lengths to get him what he needs. (The two-page spread of Granny working with the tree she's cut down, complete with saw, drill, blueprints and paint, is a treat.)

It is wonderful to watch your child's sense of humor taking shape. This book will delight youngsters, will not bore parents, and will introduce little ones to the joy of a good tall tale.

Summary: My Boy Laughs SOOOO LOUD!!!!
Review: This book is hilarious for my toddler, who completely laughs like crazy everytime granny says: WHHHHATTT?!!! to Patrick.

Also, the retro art style, which summons up books from when I was a child in the 1960's is really interesting to look at. A very clever and well drawn book.

Summary: What! Cried Granny is a hit with my second grade class.
Review: What! Cried Granny is a wonderfully written story that is a perfect example for reading to entertain. I have read this story to my second grade class, and they have begged me to read it over and over again. It has been a great springboard for discussing resourcefulness as Granny cuts down a tree to make a bed, wakes the chickens to collect feathers for a pillow, shaves the sheep for wool to make a blanket, and tears down her living room curtains to make a teddy bear so that young Patrick can enjoy his first sleep-over at her house. I loved the last line of dialogue in the book, but I'll leave that for you to find out on your own as you read the book. The writing and illustrations are first class. I do recommend this book to any parent or teacher.

Summary: Funny book!
Review: What! Cried the Granny is a charming tale about a boy and his first sleepover at his granny's house. Granny tells him to go to bed and he tells her that he doesn't have a bed over at her house. So she makes him one. Then he doesn't have a pillow, a blanket, a teddy bear, etc. The resourceful and loving granny takes the time to make each of these things for her grandson so that he can have a pleasant night's sleep.

We were first introduced to this book at story time at the library and just loved it so I had to buy it for my 3-year old nephew, who adores it, as do his older brothers (5 & 7 years old). They laugh every time that we read it to them and never seem to tire of granny's astonishment that she isn't ready for her grandson to sleep over. The illustrations are charming and the writing is easy enough for younger children to understand, but funny enough that older children will enjoy the grandchild's clever ploys to stay up longer. This is a great read aloud book and gives the parent/grandparent/teacher lots of chances to use inflection and different voices. A great addition to your own book collection that your children will treasure for years to come!
