Rating: Summary: Dr. Seuss is rolling over... Review: Dr. Seuss left this book in a drawer when he died. He obviously didn't think enough of it himself to publish it, but now that he's dead I guess anything's fair game. The illustrations are designed to fool you into thinking he did them, but he didn't. Yet this book says "by Dr. Seuss" on the cover just like The Lorax or Cat in the Hat. Deceitful.
Rating: Summary: Sadly, this was not ready to see the light of day. Review: Found in a drawers of Dr. Seuss's, the story of Mayzie seemed hardly ready to be shown. I was excited when I first heard that a story of Seuss's would be put out, but I was turned away by the illustrations. If you compare DHM's style of drawing to Lorax, Grinch, or Cat in the Hat, the illustrations look like someone traced over them, or was trying to impersonate Seuss. The story also didnt help very much, and neither did a rush to air it on TNT. The music fell short, and didn't even have the catchy feel to anything from long ago during the arly Seuss times.
Rating: Summary: I love this book!! Review: Hands down, this is my daughter's *favorite* Seuss book. At 3 & 1/2, she can practically recite it word for word. I was saddened to see the other negative reviews about the book, because I like the message in it - 1) Your family & friends will always love you, and 2) Fame isn't all it's cracked up to be. The book can be the spark for some interesting & thoughtful conversations on values.
Rating: Summary: do NOT buy this book Review: I love Seuss. I think I owe my relationship to language to him. I am now reading all his work to my daughter. But know this: this book does NOT count as a "real" Dr. Seuss book. The illustrations are PURE trash, and the story may have turned into a real Seuss work, if he'd worked on it further (it sounds like scribbled notes for a story).
Rating: Summary: I love this book!! Review: I love this book because it is funny, and exciting. It is easy to read and it made me laugh. T.J. (4th Grader)
Rating: Summary: too hard for young children Review: What everyone is saying that this isn't Seuss's real work, I believe. Seuss uses language that is easy to understand for children, and they used rather big words in this. I do like this book but if I read it to a kid they would only understand some of it.
