Summary: Cobble Street Cousins in Aunt Lucy's Kitchen
Review: All of the books in this series are really just sweet. As a librarian, it is refreshing to find a series that I can whole-heartedly recommend. (It gets 4 instead of 5 stars because, unlike the authors marvelous Henry & Mudge books, you cannot recommend them to everyone). This is Jane Austen for third graders!

Summary: Refreshing, sweet books you'll love to share with kids!
Review: I have received a little flack from fellow library employees for liking these books, however, I must support Ms. Rylant. I find these books to be refreshingly sweet. In the childrens' book world today, there seem to be so many stories that present such harsh realities. While I certainly understand that it is helpful for kids to read about someone who may be going through similar circumstances as themselves, difficult as those may be, I also believe it doesn't hurt for kids to read about other kids who are actually happy, are getting along with others, making friends, and loving their families and neighbors. I know this isn't a perfect world, but is't nice to read about "a little good news"! Thank you, Ms. Rylant. I love your books, and I know the kids with whom I work do as well! Can't wait to hear more from you . . .

Summary: Another charmer from WV author
Review: I LOVE this book! I did a literature box on this book for a class and fell in love with the characters. It's about 3 cousins who live w/ their aunt for the summer while their parents are on a ballet tour. They go through different adventures, facing each one with courage, ingenuity, and wit. They contain great character ed models. I would recommend to any 1-6 grader(especially girls) who like a good read.

Summary: Loved this Series!
Review: My second grade daughter loved this series! These were books that she would read on her own without having to be encouraged to do so. When she took a break from reading the books, she would use her imagination to play out parts of the stories. There are very few books that she's done that with. My one piece of advice with this series is that the first book (In Aunt Lucy's Kitchen) should be read first. It introduces the characters that are in the rest of the books. After that, I'm not sure that it's crucial which order the stories are read until the last 2 books. They should definitely be saved for last. They deal with the cousins leaving Aunt Lucy and then returning for Aunt Lucy's wedding. I'm a big fan of Cynthia Rylant's and these books lived up to her reputation.

Three 9 year old cousins are living with their Aunt Lucy for a year while their parents are touring the world with the ballet. They start a cookie making business which leads them to meet all kinds of people in their neighborhood. Aunt Lucy owns a flower shop and has a charming old house and the girls live in her attic. Each of the girls has a very creative and unique personality and they get themselves into all kinds of adventures. My six year old girl loves the books.
