Review: Both of our kids have enjoyed the vivid illustrations and fun movements we created to go with each page. We started reading this one when they were just a few months old. We have the baby board book edition. I'm sure it will be a cute one for learning counting as the kids get older.

Summary: count those toucans!
Review: Fleming has designed and written a beautiful book. The illustrations are just beautiful and rendered wonderfully (not as abstract as some of her other titles). The unusual animal choices make for fun reading: toucans, gnus, worms--my 9-month-old loves it. I look forward to each of Fleming's titles--when you have to reread a book umpteen times, her artwork is a joy to view again and again; when your little one is squealing in delight at each page and you are enjoying what you are reading, then you both are sharing a wonderful book and moment together. And, therefore, I highly recommend this gorgeous book.

Review: This book is bright, vivid, eye-catching, and fun. Our 20-month old is very interested in counting and animals so this book perfectly fits both categories. This is the book that she wants us to read to her, oh, about 20 times a day. She has now begun to "read" it to herself and her stuffed animals throughout the day. We highly recommend this book for younger children (because of the bright and interesting illustrations) as well as older ones (the simplicity of the illustrations makes it easy to actually count the animals pictured).
