Review: Ducky is dealing with a lot of pressures in his life. He is only a sophmore and his only true friends are four 8th grade girls. His two ex-best friends, Jason a.k.a. Jay and Alex have both drifted away. Jay is now interested in only girls, and Alex has emotional problems and is suicidal. To add to that, his parents are both away on a business trip to Ghana leaving him and his irresponsible brother with the house. While not coping with his problmes he continually comes to the rescue of his 8th grade friends.

Review: I really, truly enjoyed this book. It was so deep, it really caught the reader and the reader's attention. It was beautifully written with plenty of detail, and is a very realistic journey through Ducky's life. I have read all of the California Diaries books that have ever been made, and this was actually probably my favorite. If people say that his life could never be so depressing--that's not true at all. Many suffer through the same sorts of traumas. The great thing is that you always want to reach for the next book, because it doesn't seem to have an ending many a times. It always keeps you wanting to read more, because of the way it attracts the reader. This is definitely a five-star book, but I reccomend reading the other first 4 diaries before this one, so you can understand what Ducky's friends are going through, also.

Review: this book was boring, depressing and confusing. It was hard to keep track of what was happening and it was really unrealastic. Don't buy this book or Dawn diary 2 but all the other california diaries are really good.

Review: This book was fantastic! The things Ducky writes about and the way he expresses it in his journal are so cool. This book is sad, funny, and good all at the same time. I started to read this book and COULD NOT put it down! His friends in the book, Alex and Jay have their fair share of problems-Alex is suddenly very depressed and Jay has become part of the "cool crowd", which kind of leaves Ducky hanging. You'lll better understand me if you read it for yourself, but trust me, it's a great book.
