Rating: Summary: Seinfeld's instant classic riff on Halloweens past Review: An hysterical Seinfeldian take on all things Halloween-ish, including masks made with cheap staples and the thinnest rubber bands in the world, disappointing costumes, life's perceived ups and downs and, of course, candy Candy CANDY!!! I'd say this is more a book for parents than kids, more for Seinfeld fans than others, but enjoyable for all. James Bennett's illustrations are Pixar-ish and fall-down funny, filled with comic elements, sly digs and caricaturish facial expressions that perfectly capture one's imagined little Jerry. On an attached cd, the author reads/performs the book in front of a live audience. I probably would have preferred spending a few dollars less to have just the book, but it is fun to listen to Seinfeld perform the material at least once. This is a fun book-cd combination, and sure to have the family laughing together.
Rating: Summary: Eehhhh............. Review: Eehhhhhhh......not so much for kids. It is quite a funny take from an adult's perspective, but doesn't have a good flow for a children's book. I don't think that smaller kids would actually get the jokes, as he is describing situations that occur when you are older and still desire the CANDY! experience. The book just doesn't have a good "flow" for the K and above range, though kids hitting 10-ish will relate. As the format is a picture book, I just see big gaps in content and style for it's designated audience. As a kid's librarian, I see adults giggling over the book, but not much interest for the little guys. I agree with the other disappointed reviewer, and am a little suprised by the professional review magazines. I think they were a little swayed by the Sienfeld name.
Rating: Summary: Great for kids Review: Halloween is Seinfeld at his funniest. Based on one of his comedic momologues, this illustrated childrens book is the story of one child's view of Halloween. Of course, that child being Jerry Seinfeld, the vision is a little twisted...it's all about the candy! No matter what he has to wear, or who he has to talk to, this kid (like most) wanted candy. Riffing on [crummy]... storebought costumes, the mandatory winter coat and the disapppointment of receiving those strange little marshmallow peanuts, Seinfeld recreates what Halloween was like for all of us as children. Also, complimenting the hilarious text is the beautiful illustrations by James Bennett, Halloween is the ideal book for kids who are gearing up for the 31st or for adults who know and love Jerry Seinfeld's sardonic and true-to-life style of humour. A 5-star book for sure.
Rating: Summary: Best for children over the age of 20. Review: He reminisces about the days of cheap plastic store bought costumes and being too old but trick or treating anyway. It's almost like his stand up act with kiddy pictures! Unfortunately, the tone is too sarcastic for children and references things that today's kids won't really relate to.
Rating: Summary: Classic Seinfeld Humor, for Kids and Adults!!! Review: I checked out this book from the local library for my four-and-a-half-year-old child and although she enjoyed it I found myself enjoying more than she did, as I laughed aloud at every page. The humor is classic Seinfeld, so if you enjoy his sit-com or his stand up in general, you'll probably enjoy this book, too. And the artwork is fabulously stylistic and contributes much to the book's humor; it reminds me of the best cover art from Mad Magazine or Cracked when I read them as a kid in the 1970s. As someone pointed out, "little Jerry" is indeed a bit rude at times in the book, but my child knows it's just a "pretend" story, and that just because a character in the book behaves a certain way doesn't make it okay in "real life." My only concern, and it was a minor one, was the use of the word "stupid" once or twice, which is a word my child has been taught not to say by her teachers at school, and naturally I don't want her to say it in class; as a result, I replaced this word as I read with a euphemism (like "silly") or I omitted it altogether. In all, however, I thought this book was excellent and I plan to buy a copy for our home library.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: I found this book in the library and just grabbed it at the last moment to read to my six-year old. I didn't read it beforehand but as we started, my son got a serious case of the giggles. I would have to read several pages over and over at his request. I have to admit that I did change a few of the words to make it seem a little less harsh. My husband, who rarely laughs more than a chuckle, read this book to my son and had tears rolling as he read it. It was only my son's seventh or eighth time hearing it that day and he was still laughing. We have read this book so many times that I have just decided to buy it. The library's copy didn't have the CD to go with it but you can hear Jerry Seinfeld's delivery as you read it and don't need the CD. Above all, the illustrations are remarkable. We loved it!
Rating: Summary: It was great. Review: I was at a bookstore with my sister. We came across this book and sat down and read it together. I am 18 and she is 16. We sat down and I could not stop laughing. We both had tears streaming down our faces. It wasn't just funny. I thought it was cleverly written and very honest. We ended up buying the book and we read it together all the time and we still laugh.

Rating: Summary: Hilariously Entertaining!!!! This is a keeper. Review: In my opinion people should lighten up about the book. Some people take things a bit too seriously. This is an entertaining book from start to finish. Both my 3 yr. old and 5 yr. old sons love this story. And, of course we do too. They think it is absolutely hilarious. Our youngest has the nickname "candyman" and this book fits him to a tee (in terms of being motivated by candy)..I agree with another review regarding the word "stupid" being used a couple of times. Another word choice would have been better. We have chosen to replace the word "stupid" with "silly." That took care of that.
We are hopeful Mr. Seinfeld will continue writing such entertaining children's books.
Rating: Summary: Don't Be Fooled. . .Simply NOT Appropriate for Children Review: Ok. . .first off, I'm a HUGE Seinfeld fan, but I was sorely disappointed when I picked this up for my 6 year old. The book is good for a giggle from adults, but seems to promote ill manners and behaviors that I don't believe most people want to instill in their children (although who knows these days). Do yourself a favor and read through it at the bookstore before you purchase it.
