Review: I intended to buy the book for a gift, then ended up keeping it for my boys (3 and 5 years old) and buying something else for the birthday girl. The rhyme is "Five little ducks went out one day, over the hills and far away. Mother duck said "Quack, quack, quack, quack", but only four little ducks came back". Each day another duck does not return home until no ducklings return. The mother duck goes on with her daily chores which lead up to a big apple pie for when all the ducklings come home. The ryhme makes children aware of counting backwards, subtracting and also that being home with mum is best. I have heard my 5 year old reciting the rhyme to himself. I have caught myself doing the same. The illustrations in this book impressed me immensely due to the detail and colour. The illustrations tell another story, which means there is lots to keep the children interested.

Review: My 19 month old son adores this book. It's been his favorite since the first time we read it. He's fascinated with the illustrations - they are gorgeous and very interesting. I'm so glad that we were given this book. (We have the hardback)
