Rating: Summary: Breaking Free Review: About the book: Amy is worried. Her favorite horse pegusas appears depressed. He used to hang his head out the stall waiting for marion but now that she is dead he is listless. But when heartland's vet runs some tests he discovers that Pegasus is in grave danger. Pegasus has cancer. Amy has to make a descision. Will she put him down or fight with everything she has to save the great horse?
My opinion: GREAT BOOK! This series has a lot of sadness though. In the first book you discover that 1) amy's father was paralized in an acident 2) amy's mother dies in a car acident 3)Amy and her sister Lou have a really rough relationship 4)Mrs. bell dies and her horse is left to starve. In the second book amy carries aroung ALOT of guilt and she faces the world without her parents. and in this book she faces the reality of her own horse pegasus dying. I think the death/sadness is rather repetative. I hope this series doesnt turn out to be as repatative as the recent THOROUGHBRED books. All in all this was a great book and i reccomend it to any horse lover and anyone who collects the series.
Rating: Summary: Heartland: My Favorite Books Review: All the Heartland books are AWESOME. I am now doing a book report on the first three, maybe four if I can get Taking Chances in time. If you haven't read these books before, they are about a fifteen year old girl, Amy Fleming, who has had a tough life yet has persevered through it. In the first book, Amy brings her mother out in a storm to resuce a horse who was abandoned by his owners. After they get Spartan in the trailer and are heading back, a tree hits their truck, killing her mom. In the rest of the books, you learn how Amy copes with her moms work, healing horses, saving Heartland, putting up with her sister, Lou, and stopping Ty from leaving after so long. So, If you like horses, or even the Chicken Soup books, I would recommend these wonderful books!
Rating: Summary: Breaking Free Review: In this, the 3rd book in the series, Amy faces more problems. Pegasus, missing Amy's mother, has started to become listless and ill. Plus, when there's a misunderstanding between Ty and Amy, horses are taken away from Heartland and they are losing money. That is, until a reputable Arabian breeder (or half Arabian breeder, it probably should be, since the horse she brings is palomino) brings a mare who rears and freaks out when people try to saddle her. I thought this book was continuing in the great 'tradition' of the first two. Amy, once again, is a very human character. She has flaws; she loses her temper and she cannot always work miracles. I was happy to see that, for once, join-up wasn't the answer to the mare's problems, and for once, Amy didn't know exactly what to do. I mean, certain tactics don't work for every horse. I like the continuing relationship with Ty...Amy gets mad at him in the beginning and, this time, he isn't so quick to make up with her. In the end, it was very sad, but it was very thought provoking and very good.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: The first time I bought these books I didn't even know what the story was. It was on 5th grade I ordered them form a scholastic magazine. They sat on my shelf for about a year or 2. It was a year ago I finally picked up the first book and I just loved them! And its not really a Horse story. I mean yeah Horses are a pretty big part in the books, but Its really about Amy's life. When I bought book #13 I had my mom buy #14 that same day because I had to find out what happened to TY! My point is that when you read these books theres no putting them down! These books have a good mixture of adventure, suspence,Knowledge, troubles,Feelings, and a bit of romance. Overall these books are great! If your reading this review to see if you want to read the books, I advise you to read the books! You'll love them! tootles!
Rating: Summary: This book was so sad! Review: This book was so sad! I cry everytime I read it! I can't tell you much, I can just recomend this book to all people who love horses. It's really sad, but it has a happy ending. I've read all the Heartland books, and this was one of the best ever! Lauren Brooke has done it again! If you love horse books, this is the book for you! It gets pretty sad, but it has a really happy ending. You HAVE to read this book!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Breaking Free is really good! Review: This book was the first of the Heartland series that I read, and I still think that it is the best!! It does have some sad parts, what with Amy losing her mother and now someone/thing else (I won't say too much), but it lets you tag along while Amy tries to move on. I also think that Lauren Brooke is a really good author, and her plots are original and exciting. Lots of different qualities of different books are mixed into one in the Heartland series, and I definetely recommend this book and others in the series.
Rating: Summary: wow!! Review: This is a great book, just sad. Pegasus, her father's horse is sick. In this book I must have cried 3 times and I don't cry alot during books or movies. This book can really touch your heart if you are into it. And you will really cry if you picture it in your head. Amy is still letting go of her mother, will she have no choice but to let go of Pegasus too? Read and find out, it's well worth the tears.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: This was the first Heartland book I have read and even though I have read it over 20 times I'm still gripped to it, wandering whether Heartland will get over it's financial problems.I almost cry every time!Amy and Lou have serious financial problems due to lack of customers when their mom died and they must face up to the fact that Heartland may have to close down. However when Lou comes up with a plan to make some money Amy isn't so sure. Will Amy be able to swallow her pride and accept Lous plan or will Heartland close down Forever?
Rating: Summary: A little To sappy Review: When Amy Fleming's mother, Marion Fleming, dies in an unforgetable accident, while trying to rescue a horse, Amy's sisiter, Lou comes down to help out at the farm the Fleming's run. Heartland is a horse sancuary that heals problem horses. They often use Bach Flower Remedies as a way of healing horses. Amy's father was an Olympic show jumper until his horse, Pegasus, and him were nearly paralyzed in a fall. Now, Pegasus is the only thing Amy has left of the past. But when Pegasus suddenly realizes Marion isn't coming back he starts to lose the interest in living and slowly starts to shut down by stopping to eat. Amy doesn't know what to do with him until Scott , the local equine vet, asks Amy if he should put Pegasus down. What will Amy say?
