Rating: Summary: What a touching and interesting book! Review: After looking at the cover and the title of the book¡¨ Anne of Green Gables¡¨, there were a few questions came into my mind. Is it Anne is the main character of the book? The woman on the cover made me ask myself ¡¥Is the story is the same as the cartoon which I watched before. I found that it is the most touching and interesting that I¡¦ve ever read. Firstly, it made me to introspect and teach me a lesson to value the thing that I have. Secondly, it also made me understand why the orphan wants desperately to be adopted by others. Thirdly, the story about her and friends recall my childhood memory. Finally, if you read the book, you will find this book addicting the few first chapters. The story was started by a mistake which changed the life of Anne Shirley, Marilla Cuthbert and Matthew as long the people in Avonlea. Marilla Cuthbert and his brother Matthew wanted to adopt a boy to help him with the chores on their farm. After they sent word to town to have the orphanage sends them a boy. However they got a skinny, freckle-faced eleven-year-old girl called Anne Shirley. After Anne came to Green Gables, she changed many people¡¦s temperament, such as Matthew became board-minded. This book is also about Anne¡¦s imagination and her friends. I like this book very much because some of the plots are touching. For example, when Marilla have eye defect, Anne gave up the scholarship and the idea of going to college and intended to study home and teach because she couldn¡¦t leave Marilla alone in trouble. And the story about her and her friends is so realistic that made me to recall the memory of childhood. So I think this book is not just for child, it is also suitable for adults. Don't miss this touching and interesting book!
Rating: Summary: Here's a must read! Review: Anne of Green Gables is a realistic fiction story by L.M. Montgomery, where the characters are all interesting in a different way. This book is about Anne Shirley, an orphan who gets adopted but is first not wanted at Green Gables,Matthew and Marilla Cuthberts home. She is not wanted because she is not a boy. They were expecting a boy to help Matthew work the fields. Anne makes so many mistakes that there are no more left to do. Anne of Green Gables is also about Anne's imagination and friends.Anne has a gigantic imagination and if you also do you enjoy this book immensely. All of this put together makes a amusing, humorous story.

Rating: Summary: Anne- A Most Kindred Spirit Review: For anyone who enjoys a flight of fancy to sweep you off your feet, this is a book that I can testify has done it! Anne is a 13-year-old orphan, who, by mistake, ends up being adopted by siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. Matthew is a shy, delightfully understanding man, whereas Marilla is a hardened old maid. Thank goodness Anne has a knack with people! This tale is chock full of stories of Anne's successes and misfortunes. And, oh, what dilemmas she has a talent for! She is a charming person, who becomes your friend after just a few pages! This book is one of L.M. Montgomery's best! (And, if you enjoy the book, be sure to see the movie, as well!)
Rating: Summary: Anne of green gables Review: I have to have a little bit of avonlea every day, whether it is the anne of green gables movie's, the road to avonlea movie's or a chapter in one of my anne book's! It not only gives me some time to relax and be alone, but it takes me back to a time when life was pure and simple.it makes me realize how beautiful life really is and leaves me wishing that i could have brought up my children in such a time and place. the story's are so enchanting and beautifully written, the characters are interesting and the story's are focused on themes such as family and faith in God and actually having morals and standards. Thing's are just not that way today. I grew up in a very strict bible believing, God fearing family and we were actually taught the meaning of honesty and hard work and purity. Very seldom do I see a parent raising thier child in this fashion these days! It is sad. But at any rate these books are my favorite! I have all of them and all of the movies as well and love to watch them over and over! My children adore the movie's, especially the Road to Avonlea films. and i can rest assured that my girls are not hearing any wrong language or picking up any bad ideas when they sit down to watch these movies! I could go on and on, but i will end by saying, i highly recomend all of the Anne movies and book's. They are the very best!
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: I read this book in a Reading class at school and I loved it! It really has a great and humorous plot to it. I'm still reading the comtinuing series. Anne, an eleven year old with carrot-red hair and freckles is taken to live with the Cuthberts on Prince Edward Island. The Cuthberts are expecting a boy, and there is just something about Anne that makes Marilla Cuthbert want to take her back from the start...
Rating: Summary: Dreamer Always Review: I was first introduced to Anne when I was in 3rd grade, by my teacher Ms.Wellberg. She had read the Anne of Geen Gables novels and picked out the videos to show us during our free time. My class was fascinated by this imaginative, red head girl. I just fell in love with her when I saw it. I had dreamed to grow up just like this girl, Anne. Though I was very young and small, I loved to read and I had a big imagination. Now I am in sixth grade and still in love with the novels. I have not yet read the whole series because it's hard to find the books and because I have too many books already, my parents are refusing to by me more, but I just love to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Every Girl Needs a Dream Review: My mother first bought me Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea when I was 12. I fell immediately in love with the books, and begged her to buy me the rest. And slowly, bit by bit, my collection of books grew. The main character, Anne, though having lived in the late 19th century, is so wonderful, that I felt a kinship with her. I not only own the complete collection of books, but both of the movies too. Recently, they made a new movie, but I wasn't able to get into. It so varied from the origional books (Colleen Dewhurst is dead, and so they had to rearrange things), that I couldn't watch but 10 minutes of it without getting upset (I pointed out 15 different mistakes). But, I still love the original stories. My book collection of the Anne stories has made 5 moves with me (in 9 years) and are becomming so worn that soon, I will have to buy a new collection. I still read them, you see. I turn 22 soon and have a husband and toddler son. You just don't outgrow them. And they are perfect for any woman or girl, of any age.
Rating: Summary: Anne of Green Gales is the best book Review: This book Anne of Green Gables was one of the best books i've read in a long time. it kept my attention very well. And for me that's hard to do. Their were some many great details described. Whenever Anne describes everywhere she goes I can just imagine it in my head. I can also relate to Anne because she goes to places she's never been before and has to meet new people. This book took so many diffrent aspects on life from death of Matthew to making new friends like Diana, and speaking your mind and having it get you into trouble.Which everyone has done before in their life at one point in time.I also took a like to this book because it talked about her realationship with boys. She isnt one for being nice to them but later on she gets to trusting them more.I didnt like everything about this book, i would have to say the down fall for me was that the book didnt spend to much time on the other characters.I would have liked to known a little bit more about them. I would have to say overall this book was very well written, i think it could be for all ages, speaking from Merillas point of view and of course Annes as well.Even though the book is written in the "olden" times almost everyone can relate to the book in one way or another. So i would definatly recommened it to everyone i know.
Rating: Summary: Fall in Love with Anne and Green Gables Review: This boxed set captures the life of Anne Shirley, a spirited red head orphan who is adopted by the elderly Cuthbert siblings. With the odds against her, Anne's temper and spunk makes Anne into the heroine of Green Gables. A beloved classic, Anne of Green Gables brings you back to a simpler romantic time with a heroine who sees life as a glass half filled.
