Review: Book review
By Rebecca

The book that I am reading is Junies B. Jones Is Not a Crook. Her grandfather gave her some mittens. It wasn't her birthday or Christmas or Valentines Day. This is a funny story.

I am reading Junie B Jones. So far in the book. She got new mittens. She liked them so much because they were made. Out of fur I would think that people should read this book because it is the best book in the world I wish everyone could read it. They would really like it everyone I think will be able to read it.

Summary: Junie B. Jones Is Not A Crook- or is she?
Review: In the book Junie B. Jones Is Not A Crook by Barbara Park a girl named Junie B. Jones gets new mittens and they are so furry. Her Grampa Miller gave them to her. At recess when she is playing someone steels her mittens. If you want to find out if she gets her mittens back you have to read this book. It's great!

Summary: Junie B Jones Is Not a Crook (#9)
Review: Junie B's grandpa gets her new gloves. But then she loses them! Then, she goes to the lost and found, but they are not there. Then she finds a pen that writes four colors, and she doesn't want to put t in the Lost and Found. Does she find her mittens and give the pen to the Lost and Found? Read it to find out.
This book is funny, but it is short. It reminds me of when I bought a big star shaped earring at a garage sale, then one day I wore it to school with a pink heart shaped earring, but when I got inside at recess, my earrings had fallen off. I found the pink one, but I couldn't find the gold star earring. I think somebody took it, and it was never in the Lost and Found. It was my favorite earring and now I'll probably never get one like it and mine had a red star shaped sticker stuck on it, so if I find another it will not be the same. Anyway, this is a good book (...).

Review: This book is really good. I think it had 5 stars because it was funny. Her grandpa gave her mittens for no good reason and she wore them to school and then someone stole them.

Summary: Horrible Language Model For Children
Review: While this book has a good moral (you should turn in things you find, otherwise it's stealing), the language this book models is awful. Here are some sentences from the book: "And I runned all over the playground. Then she holded my hand. Somebody stoled my mittens. I weared a grin as soon as I saw this wonderful thing. All of a sudden my face lighted up." While some people may think that Junie B. Jones's mangling of past tense verbs is cute, it does not help children learn proper verb tense. Also, there's a nice stereotype in this book where Junie B. Jones is looking for somebody with a tattoo, because that will indicate who the crook is. Parents and teachers, don't even waste your time.
