Summary: Even Dogs Scrapbook!
Review: As an avid scrapbooker, I've been collecting children's story books with a scrapbooking theme. This book is a gem! I've always loved the "Carl Books" and have enjoyed this adorable pup's adventures through the years. Someday, my grandchildren will sit on my lap and we'll look at this book together. Then we'll make our own scrapbook.

Summary: What???
Review: The Carl books have jokingly been called "delightful stories of child neglect" by my sister-in-law, but in reality they are usually warm and humorous. Most feature the Rottweiler Carl, who, when left in charge of the family baby by a remarkably negligent mother, gets in all sorts of mischief. The stories are usually largely absent of text, and quite clever.

Fans of the series will likely be baffled by this entry--like when your favorite rock band kicks drugs and suddenly releases an album all about Jesus. It appears that the author, bereft of new ideas, simply assembled a scrapbook. Ever endured an evening looking at slides of a neighbor's vacation? This is exactly that entertaining, and, on top of it, you don't even get a meal first.

It's sad when the notion of caveat emptor applies to a children's book series.

Summary: Carl and baby Madeleine make a scrapbook for Carl
Review: Who could pass up this book when they first see the cover? Abeautiful illustration of a dog and child is the beginning of yourjourney to making the scrapbook. While most of the pages are filledwith actual "photographs" there are still pages full of illustrations without words as the baby and dog go about finishing Carl's portion of the book. It takes four paws to hold down a picture with glue! Remember, mother is outside and Carl and baby are supposedly watching a video. They must hurry along and finish before mother comes inside. But how can you look innocent when you are a dog with glue and tape stuck all over you!
