Rating: Summary: Funny!!!!!!!! Review: Barbara Park does it again! Another fantastic book about Kindergarten student Junie B. Jones. Ms. Parks books are written from the perspective of a child. This allows her books to be both well-written and funny. To date there are a total of 21 Junie B books. I recommended purchasing all of them and enjoying them with your children.
Rating: Summary: The Best Field Day Review: Did you ever think of being the captain of field day? You can find out in Junie B. Jones is the Captain of Field Day! What it is like. The author of this book is Barbra Park. A kindergartener named Junie B. Jones just happens to be the captain of Field Day! Boy, she is so excited to be captain that she just can't wait! She and her team have bad luck right away. Room 8 has a strong kid that can do any thing! But that's not the end of field day! I like this book because Junie B. is not a sore looser and she has fun. Also she does not cry! I think the authors purpose in writing this book is to show people that you should not judge a person when you don't know what they can do. You should read this book to find out more!
Rating: Summary: The Best Field Day Review: I chose to make this the first Junie B. Jones book I read and I wasn't disappointed. Junie B. is a realistic portrayal of an amusing and cute kindergartener. She's can also be rather precocious and self-centered at times and this story teaches an important lesson about not being that way. The ending was surprising and in my opinion pleasant, although everything did not work out the way Junie had hoped, an unlikely hero emerged. As for Junie B.'s dialect, she speaks it like it is and I would agree that parents should probably monitor reading of these stories. Neverthless, that doesn't detract from a great story.
Rating: Summary: Funny!!!!!!!! Review: I like Junie B.'s language. I think it's cute. I'm 9 and I never "learned" to talk like that. Parents who say that don't get it that kids can't learn to talk like Junie B.! I rate this book a 6 STARS...not 5. In Captain Field Day, I liked how Junie B. gave William her cape after he won the last game for Room 9. That was nice of her. Junie B. rules! I don't know how I could live without that funny kid! They are my favorite stories and I read them all the time. I love your books, Junie B.! From: Katti K., from Hollywood, C.A.: USA
Rating: Summary: Growing Up Review: The 16th adventure in Barbara Parks' collection of Junie B. Jones books continues in grand fashion. Junie B. becomes the Captian of Room Nine's field day. Competition seems too much for Room Nine to handle but ultimately Junie B. and her friends are able to see what being a true winner really is. The latest Junie B. story is filled with the same fun humor and kindergarten antics but this particular journey allows all of Room Nine to grow up just a little.
Rating: Summary: Junie B. Jones is Captain Field Day Review: This story is about a little girl named Junie B. Jones. The B is for Beatrice, but she only likes B. for her middle name. In this book Junie wants to be in charge of her favorite day,and that is Field Day. Junie`s favorite event is the dash and she doesn`t like when Cry-Baby-William is up for an event. My favorite part is when Cry-Baby-William won the pull-up competition. I liked this book because it has a big lesson about judging people when you don't know their talents. I recommend this book to others because they will learn not to judge other people. Read this book to see what happens next.
Rating: Summary: Ta Da, Junie B. Is Here Again Review: Yes, my kids loved Junie B in first grade also, but I am so pleasd that they outgrew this series. Junie B is funny and fresh, but the problem is, she narrates the stories with the worst kindergarten grammar imaginable. Not a good example for youngsters struggling to master the English language. Since my kids enjoyed the stories so much, I decided to make a game out of finding all the grammatical errors. This required reading the stories together, which is a great way to spend time together. We laughed at Junie's antics and corrected her mistakes. My only reservation with this book and the rest of the series is that it is marketed, and is wonderfully suitable, for beginning readers. I would guess most kids who get this book will read it to themselves. Would you like your child to read a book that consistently uses words like "runned" and "bestest" and "'cause"? There are many other excellent early readers to chose for your blossoming child. I can recommend the Amelia Bedelia series, Magic Treehouse series, and Marvin Redpost series, as good alternatives to Junie B. Then graduate to Beverly Cleary's Ramona and Henry Huggins series. And save Junie B. for reading together, so your child will learn to discern correct grammar and usage.
