Rating: Summary: I've Read Better!!! Review: This book "Can't You Sleep Little Bear?" is not a book that I would suggest to anybody. The story doesn't make that much sense. It talks about how big bear keeps bringing brighter lanterns in, but little bear is still playing games in teh background. The plot isn't that great, and doesn't make that much sense. Then to make things a lot more difficult, they go outside and look at the moon. Why would somebody do that when they are looking for a brighter light source. A large lantern is much brighter then a full moon. I guess he just must of wanted to show little bear the moon, since little bear hadn't seen it before. I have read better books before, but I guess, I have also read some that were worse.
Rating: Summary: Can't You Sleep Little Bear? Review: This is the perfect book for a 1st or 2nd grader. It's easily understandable and it reminds me of a child, not able to sleep at night. The child continues to pester the parents with "but Mom/Dad, i can't sleeeeeep!" The book has some pretty well drawn illustrations that can easily be followed as reading the book. I gave this book 5 stars based on what I believe a 6 year old would think of it. If your older your not going to appreciate this book like a youngin' would. My favorite character is Little Bear...seeing as there are only two characters in the story. Little Bear is cute as a button and reminds me of my brother, trying to get to sleep at night, finding it difficult.
Rating: Summary: Charmy and inspirational in its warmth and simplicity Review: When I think of this book I chuckle. Barbara Firth's warm and enchanting illustrations help to deliver the message of caring and concern by the parent figure (Big Bear) and the sometimes unintentionally frustrating nature of children(Little Bear). The picture of them cuddled in the arm chair at the end of the book is priceless. My 6 year old son read this book to me and, when he got to the line " Little Bear is the little bear and Big Bear is the big bear...", I remember thinking perhaps this should be obvious. Paddy summed it up in two words... "well... duh!" Otherwise, the story was just as delightful as the illustrations.
