Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent for inquisitive young minds
Review: This is the best "how come" book that I have run across for my six-year old boy. It covers every topic that young children are likely to be interested in, from space ships and planets to how plants grow. My son browses in it incessantly. The illustrations are excellent, and the succinct explanations for common natural phenomena teach even adults something (e.g., I now grasp exactly how thunder occurs).

My only criticism is that some of the chapters are slightly dated, and a new edition would be warranted to give a more current child's eye perspective on, say, the findings of the Hubble space telescope, computers and the Internet, or environmental challenges.
