Rating: Summary: Great book for those interested in West Point Review: A very good book for those interested in attending the United States Military Academy. Provides very straight forward information about what is required, what it is like being a cadet both good and bad. A perfect book to give to either the parent of or the interested student.
Rating: Summary: Not Bad, But Not Necessary Review: As someone "interested" in identifying good candidates, I have the following two recommendations for anyone interested in West Point: 1) Get your information about the process of getting into West Point directly from Admissions -- FREE! 2) Get your information about the true significance of WHY the exceptional choose West Point by reading the book, "West Point", by Norman Thomas Remick. As someone long involved, that's my best advice to anyone who wants to take a look at a West Point education.
Rating: Summary: Seriously outdated information Review: Mr. Smallwood means well in writing this book, and I must say it DID help me...when I bought the book back when I was 12!!!Now that I have already gone through the Admissions process, and am now going to West Point, I must admit that the information in the book is horribly outdated, especially about the Nomination process! I feel that by reading, "Absolutely American," and gobbling up the wonderful catalogs and brochures that the Admissions Office provides for...free, you'll be good to go!
Rating: Summary: Great book for those interested in West Point Review: Present edition is not the 1992 book listed here. A new version was released in 2000 that covers the many changes at West Point in recent years.
