Rating: Summary: A fun book about a big transition Review: I bought this book for my 18-month old, who will soon be a big sister. I didn't know if she'd understand it or not, but she loves Arthur. Initially, the lift-the-flap format is what got her attention, but with repeated readings, she began to get the idea about a new baby at Arthur's house (and, hopefully, the new baby at hers!). It provided us with the opportunity to talk about what babies--as opposed to big girls--do: cry, make messes when they eat, etc. I also liked how the book addressed D.W.'s concerns about the baby without dwelling on the negative.
Rating: Summary: My 19 month old girl loved this book. Review: My daughter received this book from her grandparents in anticipation of the birth of her baby brother. The story itself is interesting and warm-hearted, but the lift up flaps will undoubtedly hold the most appeal. Parents may want to supervise the initial reading of the book as some of the flaps are difficult to lift the first time and shaped in a way that may tear if not handled gently (I speak from first hand experience!)
Rating: Summary: Delighful, Engaging and Helpful Review: Not just for kids, the Amazon sales ranking for this book of 1,816 proves that Marc Brown's works appeal to all. "Arthur's New Baby Book" is an excellent story, both about Baby Kate and how D.W. and Arthur relate to her when she first joins the household. Each page is fully illustrated, and there are an enormous amount of flaps. My only complaint is that some of the flaps seemed a bit hard to open, but perhaps that's just me. The book itself was top-notch in all ways. If you haven't bought this yet, please do so, it is well worth your money.

Rating: Summary: Arthur's Baby Review: This book is great for younger children who are nervous about the new baby that is going to arrive. There are good pictures and it shows how many kids feel and how to handle the new child. Plus it shows just how much fun having a younger sibling can be.
Rating: Summary: A must-have for flapbook and Arthur fans! Review: This has been a favorite in our house for over a year. My 4 year old loves this book because (1)it is an Arthur book and (2)it is a lift-the-flap book. This book is a great gift for a new big brother or sister. One of the pages shows the new baby crying for several different reasons. By lifting the flaps you find out what made the baby stop crying (sleep, food, fresh diaper.) I liked the pages of nursery rhymes. There are over 40 flaps to open and several wiggle fingers (put your fingers through holes and wiggle them to make ears or legs). Bottom line is that this book is a safe bet for the toddler set!

Rating: Summary: Arthur's Baby Review: This is a touching book. It tells Arthur's story as a new baby comes in to his house. It also shows how he adjusted to his new life stlye.
Rating: Summary: This book is typical Arthur material -- bratty. Review: While the content of this book is very similar to many other good books to help _children_ become _siblings_, it is presented in an entertaining way typical of Brown's Arthur books. The graphics present an understandable and engaging picture for any child who's familiar with the Arthur television show; its style, of necessity is just a little from the books, but not so much the child will not enjoy and follow. A good tool to use as part of your preparation package for your (currently) only child.
