Summary: Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving
Review: This is a wonderful and light-hearted story. I read it to my preschool class every year and they love it. Of course, we discuss that stealing isn't right but kids are much smarter than we give them credit and they realize it's a fun story. The rhyming and illustrations are wonderful. I highly recommend it for a fun light read.

Summary: Great for kids of all ages.
Review: Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving follows the rhythm of Twas the Night Before Christmas, and this is definitely a book that should be read out loud. I'm sending this with my son to school so his teacher can read it to the class. I've told her about it, and she and the class are waiting for it! One of my favorite illustrations is where the children are hugging the happy little turkeys. (No, NOT a reality, but this is a CHILDREN'S book. We save a little reality for them later in Catcher In The Rye.) Also, I love the illustration of the children, suddenly turned all chubby, with turkey feathers sticking out from under their coats. Hmmm...

Maybe some of the naysayers of this book should stop and consider some old favorites. Snow White committed breaking and entering. Do they warn their children that they should not break into people's house and randomly clean, like Snow White? My goodness! We might have a nation of pint-sized bandits, compulsively cleaning stranger's houses...

And my eight year old son STILL does not like turkey at Thanksgiving, without reading Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving. He likes the mashed potatoes and stuffing, no matter how much I try to hide the turkey with the mashed potatoes...

Dav Pilkey is such a wonderful writer/illustrator of children's books. You should definitely check out his website, www.davpilkey.com. Mr. Pilkey, by the way, was not vegetarian when he wrote this or trying to send any "hippie, liberal" message. He's just an adult-sized kid who writes an entertaining book.

Summary: Ridiculous Leftist pap for children
Review: Unless you adhere to the Leftist new American PC doctrine, keep your children away from this book.

I'm sure one day author Pilkey and his Earth Liberation Front, Green Peace and PETA crowd will get their wish, and we will have turkey (and all meat) free holidays. But until that day comes- when we'll be driving ox carts (oops that would be cruel to the ox) err walking and eating peas and oatmeal for Thanksgiving-please give it a rest.

It took us 2 years to de-program our grand daughter after her hoople 22-year old teacher read this to the class.

Gee, Comrade Lenin would be so proud of this nonsense. Oh, not the book, just the fact he called the American Left, "useful idiots."

P.S. The illustrations were nice.
