Review: Tomie De Paola's Book of Poems offers a wide selection of poetry--loosely organized by theme. There's a nice multicultural mix in the selection as well as a sampling of writing by female authors. The simple, stunning illustrations attract the youngest readers. I started reading poetry to my daughter when she was 6 months old and now at two years old she can recite some of it back to me. This is a lovely volume which serves as a nice compliment to simpler nursery rhymes.
