Rating: Summary: Junie B. Jones is hilarious and will keep everyone laughing. Review: Do you remember when it was scary to go to school? Kindergartner, Junie B. Jones thinks she is ready to start school until she has to ride the school bus. There are meanies on there and it is smelly, so when it is time to ride the bus home, she decides to stay at school and hide. Needless, to say Junie B. does some exploring and gets into trouble before it is all over. The way Junie B. thinks out loud and says exactly what she is thinking makes this book delightful to read out loud. Barbara Park has truly captured the voice and thoughts of a five year old. My second grade students beg me to read more everytime I start a new Junie B. book. Our librarian can't even keep them on the shelf because of their growing popularity. Some students that weren't reading much on their own have really taken a liking to the humorous antics of Junie B. Jones. I am looking forward to many more books in this series.
Rating: Summary: Similar to "Ramona the Pest" Review: I remember reading the "Ramona" series as a child and enjoyed everyone of the Ramona books dearly. I read "Junie B." to my nieces, ages 7 and 6 over the summer. Barbara uses the same humor and small child's viewpoint that Beverly Cleary did. Junie is strong willed, spunky, spirited, and brash, as Ramona was. Junie's antics often get her into trouble, although her intentions were good. Just like Ramona. Keep up the good work and I hope to see the "Junie B. Jones" book track her through the elementary school years.
Rating: Summary: Junie B. JONES and the stinky smelly bus book review Review: Junie B. Jones and the stinky smelly bus. My books author is Barbara Park. She is best known for Junie B. Jones books. Junie B. is a little six-year-old whom likes to get her way but she doesn't. In this book Junie B. Jones and the stupid smelly bus she is starting kindergarten ,and meets her teacher. Her teacher asks if she ride the bus. If you read this book you would know if she rode the bus or not. I would best recommend this book for mischievous people from one to One hundred! THANKS
Rating: Summary: 5-star beginning to a 5-star series Review: Junie B. Jones is a wonderful series for young readers and for parents who like to read aloud to their children. Barbara Park has really set the bar for modern early chapter books with Junie B.'s perfect voice, fast and furious pacing and laugh-out-loud humor that both kids and parents will enjoy. This particular book is a wonderful introduction to the series. Junie B. is adverse to riding the bus and ends up staying after school--without the consent or knowledge of her bus driver, teacher or parents. Barbara Park recounts Junie B.'s subsequent adventures flawlessly through the eyes of a precocious 5-year-old. Junie B. is a strong protagonist but her parents and teachers are very believable as well. Be warned, Junie B. does not use proper adverbs, tenses or get all of her sayings right. That is much of her charm and draws children in. It sends the message that children are wonderful just the way they are and that we, as adults, think enough of them to be true to their collective voice.
Rating: Summary: These books got my 6yr old to read!!!! Review: My daughter just finished 1st grade. At her book fair last month she bought one of the JUNIE B JONES books. The next day, i was looking for her in the usual spots: in front of the TV, etc.. Finally I found her up on her bed quietly reading JUNIE. She loves them. She read through the first three in 1 1/2 weeks. Until now, she had been mostly a reluctant reader. Junie is a feisty character with a mind of her own. It is easy to identify with her and enjoy her antics. As a parent, I highly recommend these books!!
