Summary: Why did they have to add Elmo
Review: As a child I read "Monster at the End of the Book" and loved it. My question is why did they have to write pretty much the same story and add Elmo. Must he poke his little red head into every aspect of Seasame Street there is. The story lost some of its suspence when he was added. The children in my class when I read the first book they were the ones pushing Grover through the story. In this one Elmo is pushing Grover along and not the children. If you are looking for a great book for your children pick the first one and leave Elmo out.

P.S I have read this with Early Childhood classrooms and Special Education.

Summary: Not as good as the original
Review: First let me say that I was disappointed when this book arrived because it's a small cardbood book. When I read "hardcover", I was thinking it would be the same style and size as the original Monster at the End of This Book. I also thought that since my 2 year old loved the original one, this would be a shoo-in as a new favorite. Boy was I wrong! I've read this book to her exactly 3 times and that was because I was the one to choose her bedtime book. She definitely prefers the first one.

Summary: I love this book
Review: Great for parents who like to make voices! You can get very animated with this book. My 3-year old son plays the part of Elmo and I read Grover's part, and have a blast.

The drawings are wonderful, coloful and full of things to talk about. Nice little book all around. (the original ain't too bad, either!)

Summary: Loveable, Furry
Review: I had always enjoyed Monster and when I got married and became a stepmom, I ran out and bought the book. My stepson couldn't read yet, but he new exactly when to yell, "You turned the page!". Then when Another Monster came out...you better believe we got it as well. I now have a 6 month old son and pretty soon he will be meeting up with the Monster! I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Summary: Not as good as the original
Review: I remember reading this book as a child, and I loved every page! It's creative and well put together. Every page is a new surprise! Everyone in the family can enjoy this book. Now that I have children, I can now pass the tradition of loving this book on for many more generations to come. This is a book that provides many smiles and laughs to children of all ages. You'll love it, and your children will love it, and their children will love it and so on and so on.....

Summary: Not as good as the original, but my nephew loves it!
Review: I was a bit disappointed when I first read this book to myself because I thought that it wasn't nearly as good as the original, but I was pleasantly surprised that my 28 month old nephew loves this book because it stars his favorite Sesame Street character, Elmo! He is also in this phase in which he loves monsters, so can you blame him for loving it? It apparently was not a waste of money like I thought it would be. He always requests "Another marmar book!" (Translation: Another monster book!) Basically the book is about Grover not wanting to get to end of the book because there is supposed to be a monster there, but Elmo tries to convince him throughout the book to go see the monster at the end of the book. Like in the first book, Grover does everything he can to get you to stop turning the pages, but Elmo eggs you on to turn the pages! Grover finally agrees to see the monster at the end of the book, and he is pleasantly surprised to find that HE and Elmo are the monsters at the end of the book! It is written with quotation bubbles above the heads of the characters, so that is a little different from the original text writing. Highly recommended to toddlers!

Summary: Didn't live up to expectations
Review: My son read the origional, and instantly fell in love with it. So, I couldn't have been more excited when I found "Another Monster". But when we received it, and read it immediately, we couldn't have been more disappointed. The addition of Elmo was nice, but the story just did not flow properly. At best, it is just a poor immitation of the first.

Summary: almost as good as the first Monster!
Review: This is an interactive book....the kids hearing it read to them will help you decide whether to listen to Grover and stop turning the pages, or go on with Elmo...it's just what the pre-schooler loves, and I enjoy it as well!!! The first one was only with Grover, and I gotta admit, even better. Buy both!

Summary: As good as the first
Review: We love to read "The Monster at the End of This Book" and when I came across "Another Monster at the End of This Book", I was very excited. As soon as we recieved it I sat down to read it to my daughter (22 months). It was a instant hit! My daughter has always brought me "The Monster..." to read to her at least 6 times a day and now she makes sure to grab them both when she wants me to read to her. That is not a problem for me since I find both of these books to be very cute.

Summary: Great Children's Book
Review: What a great book!! Reading this book just before bedtime when your preschooler is "afraid of monsters" is ideal. Are all monsters bad? Grover is afraid of monsters and Elmo is curious. Little Elmo wants to see the monster at the end of the book, but Grover tries to discourage him by placing obstacles in his way. Will Elmo ever see the monster? My 3 1/2 year old thinks this book is great and even participates in the reading. A great read for children and parents alike.
