Summary: simple childhood favorite
Review: A small grey mouse with enormous ears is asked by the narrator who he belongs to. Why, he's nobody's mouse!! Where's his mother? Inside the cat!! Where's his father?? Inside a trap!! What about his sister?? She's lost, far, far away... My goodness!! Well, what is he going to DO about it, then?? I'll let you read to find out his fun, creative answers to his life's problems!

Originally published in 1970, "Whose Mouse are You?" is as much fun for young children and beginning readers now as it was back then. The text is short and simple, it rhymes and repeats, so even very young children can get interested in the story and repeat it after a few tellings. The illustrations are wonderfully simple and uncluttered, drawn with only with black yellow and red (from which we can get pink, orange and grey, too!)

When I was a infant/toddler teacher in daycare, "Whose Mouse are You?" was one of the all time favorites. Children just learning how to speak would call out "mouse book!! Mouse book!" and then sit glued to the pages. I've even seen an elementary school art teacher use this book to show how one does NOT need a box of 2 bazillion crayons to make interesting and fun illustrations-"get creative with limited tools" she said, passing out only red, yellow and black markers to the class.

For lapsitting readers as well as beginning readers, "Whose Mouse..." is an excellent choice and a lot of fun!! Enjoy!!

Summary: Made me thankful to be who and where I was
Review: I can remember my mom reading this book to me when I was very young. I am 22 now, and I know that my Mom read many books to me when I was young, but this is one that I always remember. I can't even recall the exact subject matter, but I do remember that it made me seriously think about how I would feel if my parents and my sisters weren't with me every day. "Whose Mouse Are You?" made me consciously thankful to be a part of a loving family.

Summary: What a Blessing to find this book!
Review: I love this book. I first heard it when I was 5 years old. (I will be 23 in a couple of weeks.) I have had this book memorized since then. I remembered harassing the librarian in my elementary school for this book. Now that I know I can buy it, I'm going to ask my boyfriend to buy it for me for my birthday. I think everyone should buy this book. It's cute and easy to read, and memorize.

Summary: This book was a favorite with my grandchildren.
Review: Looking at the other reviews herein, I was pleased to find that it holds a similar place in others' hearts and memories. I could recite the book word-for-word when I was three. Now I'm. . . well, late-20s, and hold no fonder memories of childhood than my recitations of these words of Robert Kraus. What better gift could I offer my nieces and nephews than this?

Much thanks and high kudos to the author!

Summary: My first and favorite book.
Review: My parents read this book to me when I was young and when I was around three, I could reicte the whole thing from memory and then claimed that I could read it. It gave me the confidnce to really learn to read. It is an amazing book that every child should read. I'm seventeen now and it's still my favorite.

Summary: This book was a favorite with my grandchildren.
Review: Of all the books I have read to my grandchildren, this one has been a favorite. The oldest is now twenty-three and can still recall it from memory. The book is now tattered and worn from the many happy hours of reading, but the fond memories remain always.

Summary: Whose Mouse Are You?
Review: This book means so much to me. When I was little I use to carry it around even though I really couldn't hold it. It use to drag the ground. I would lay on my father's chest every night as he read it to me. My nickname to this day from him is Mouse. Because I am my daddy's mouse. When I got married he gave the book to me as a wedding present. Of course not the same copy as that one was lost in our many moves, but he searched all over for a copy of it for me. It is a wonderful book and I plan to read it to my kids.

Summary: A Family Staple
Review: This was both my sister's and my favorite book when we were little--the first and last thing we ever agreed upon! :-) Ten years later I can still recite the book word-for-word, and it makes me smile every time I think about it. The illustrations are colorful and unique, and the little mouse is so CUTE!
