I've noticed a silly message: if you're dealing with a grumpy old grandma, you can be a little creative... just like George was!! I liked when George sang that stupid song because after I read it I laughed my fool head off!! I think this is the perfect book for children that like to laugh! If you like this book you can read his other books too!!
Rating: Summary: The Most Hilarious Book Review: George's Marvelous Medicine by Roald Dahl is a fantasy story with many exaggerations. To start the story off the main character George decides to make some medicine for his grandmother so she won't be so crabby. He goes around he house collecting ingredients that go from basic ingredients all the way to very exotic ingredients. George wonders if his creation will turn out to work. George has an exciting mind that never gives up trying. This book is very hilarious in the end. In this book, George accidently gives the medicine to some other people/animals. It turns out to be a disaster. I would definitely recommend this book to any reader that likes to read comical and untrue books.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious book!! Fabulous for all ages!! Also adults! Review: George's Marvelous Medicine is a fantastic book, for all ages! It's hilarious and will make anyone laugh. Once you start reading this book you won't be able to get your nose out of it!!! I would rate this book a most definite five, or the highest rating possible!!! I read this while I was on vacation and no one could get me to go anywhere! The plot was set in the English countryside, where an eight year old boy, named George was stuck with his horrid grandma, who told him all sorts of terrible stories that frightened him to death! Eventually, George got so fed up with the obnoxious old hag, that he made up a special medicine, to replace her regular daily medicine. The medicine works wonders, and makes the grandma taller than a house, and very spunky!! If you enjoy strange and wonderful humor, fun and exciting books, or Roald Dahl books, I strongly reccomend this!!!
Rating: Summary: authors study Review: GEORGE'S MAVELOUS MEDICINE George's Marvelous Medicine is about a boy who has to deal with his old, ugly, skinny, grandmother. George couldn't deal with his grandmother any more. He came up with a plan to make a marvelous medicine. The ingredients he used were horseradish sauce, toothpaste, shaving soap, nail polish, hair remover, shoe cleaner, deodorant spray, lipstick, floor polish, and many other things. Do you think this medicine will work? If it does work what do you think is going to happen to his grandmother? Well you'll have to read it to find out.
Rating: Summary: How I rated George¿s Marvelous medicine Review: Have you ever had a rotten relative that you would like to get rid of? Well this is the book for you. Hello! My name is Natasha. I read the book George's Marvelous medicine This book is written by: Roald Dahl This book is wonderful. It's about a boy named George. George has a grandma that acts like a wicked witch. Throughout the book George tries to make medicine that would make his nasty grandma be nice. I really like this book because the author describes the medicine and the characters and what happens to them so well that I could picture it in my mind. I recommend this book to kids who have wild imaginations and like to make pretend potions.
Rating: Summary: Do you like crazy stories? Read this book! Review: Have you ever thought of your grandma as big as your house? Well you can read George's Marvelous Medicine by Roahl Dahl? George doesn't like his grandmother because when both of his parents leave she bosses him around. George makes a medicine for his grandmother and when he stirs it, he says magic words. But he doesn't know what he is saying. My favorite character is George. George is my favorite because he makes a new medicine. My favorite part in the middle of the book is when Grandma rides the big horse. The pictures are amazing. In one of them you see Grandma sleeping in the barn on the hay and she doesn't even mind the rats! This book shows you how you can use your imagination. It also shows you that you should never make one of your parents cry. Grandma drinks another dose of medicine. What happens next? Read your way to the end and find out!
Rating: Summary: I majored in chemistry because of this book! Review: I don't think that this book is appropriate for all children. Parents who are conscientious about the kinds of things that their children read or watch on television should take note. The subjects of cruelty and revenge are treated very cavalierly in this book, and as such, not all parents will find it suitable. It's important to ensure that if children do read this book, they understand that the things that George does are not to be translated into real life. Though the subject of revenge on uncaring parents and teachers seems to be a common one for Roald Dahl, not all of his books contain material this extreme. There are many, many other wonderful books by Roald Dahl that young readers and parents alike may find more appealing. Perhaps a better suggestion would be "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Fantastic Mr. Fox," or "Matilda." Roald Dahl is a masterful story-teller, and children tend to enjoy the fact that he is never condescending and always seems to be on "their side." With that in mind, this book may not be the best one for demonstrating his storytelling abilities and many parents would be best advised to look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: For older kids who aren't parrots. Review: I read this as a child (it was one of my favorites - quite short and consistenly enjoyable). Since other reviewers have already provided the major plot points, I'll leave that out. Let me just say that I didn't read the story as a "how to poison your grandmother" instruction manual. It taught me not to try and make medicines on my own - you can't predict the results. I suppose, looking back on it, it's really an anti-drug/huffing parable. The first time you do "the medicine," you feel huge. The effects shrink thereafter.
You can probably gauge how impressionable your child is based on whether they try and feed you some medicine they made themselves after reading the book. If they do, depending on how successful they are, you might look into censoring books like this that require them to think.
Rating: Summary: George's marvelous medicine Review: If you want to put it bluntly, this is not the book for impressionable youngsters or Grandma. Yet, this is a wonderfully quirky and hilarious for those who have a certainly quirky sense of humor. It is also a quick read. i could not say what its appropriate age level is because I didn't read it until I was sixteen, but mostly it is about maturity level. Super mature people probably will not like it and super immature people should not read it.
Rating: Summary: authors study Review: We like George's Marvelous Medicine because, George makes a medicine for his grandmother because her other medicine did not work. Also because, how creative he was. He puts in shaving cream, animal pills, and other stuff like that. He gives it to his grandmother and .... Oh you do not want to know what happans nects, but if you do want to know read the book and find out.
